Spidey will soon join the MCU

I also think the MCU version of Civil War is going to be radically different from the comic of the same name, just as the Winter Soldier movie was extremely different from that comic storyline, and the forthcoming Age of Ultron appears to only have Ultron in common with the storyline of that name.  Spider-man getting unmasked is not necessarily going to be a major plot point  - it's actually hard to imagine how it could be, as none of the other MCU characters have secret identities.  It just doesn't line up.

Civil War will be about the governments control of superhumans in the post Age Of Ultron world after Tony's drones rebel and attack everyone. With the Avengers broken apart and not trusting each other leaving the world without protection, Captain America forms his own team to handle finding Winter Soldier and step in to watchdog over America. Iron Man ends up siding with the government to make amends for his mistake and assembles his own team to handle the recent appearance of inhumans and vigilantes appearing all over. It's logical that Steve and Tony clash over personal rights which results in a huge battle when someone or something goes wrong and sends both teams into the conflict possibly with a bigger shadow figure being the cause of the event which ignites the Civil War. Spider-Man and Black Panther obviously will be caught in the middle.

But doesn't it seem like this storyline will require Tony to be a very different Tony than the one we've seen before?  The Tony we know who told the government where they could stick it when they wanted his tech and the Tony who was so suspicious of SHIELD that he hacked the Hellcarrier is nothing like the Civil War's "let me register all my tech with the government" Tony.

I know Marvel has a plan for this, but the Tony we see in Cap3 will look nothing like the Tony we've seen in the past four movies. And I am having a hard time imagining how they will get from point A to point B.
I am not, nor have I ever been a Rude Naked Hero!

We have not seen Tony in the post-Hydra world yet much less his outlook on everything after during Iron Man 3 when he decides to quit being Iron Man and creates his Drone Army (which is what Ultron rises from). Tony has always been the guy who thinks 10 steps ahead but has taken it on the chin twice (being blindsided by Killian and then Hydra hiding under his nose).

They had a preview clip from Avengers: Age Of Ultron which shows Tony and Steve chopping wood after their first battle with Ultron and after an arguement Steve says "Whenever someone tries to stop a War before it starts people GET hurt!" THAT'S where Civil War is being forged from. Ultron is going to inflict some serious damage and Scarlet Witch hexes Hulk so that he is needed to be taken down by the Hulkbuster which severely damages the reputations of the Avengers and Superhumans in general. We also will have a big event  that will occur during the season finale of AGENTS OF SHIELD which I will assume will be a rogue group of Inhumans setting off Terrigen Mist bombs which results in a huge boom of new super powered people with no idea how to control themselves.

Iron Man wants to start a registration program to catalog all of the heroes/villians to avoid anyone making a huge disaster once again. Steve on the other hand watched Tony make a huge mistake with Ultron by not thinking it through doesn't want these new Inhumans confronted like criminals or soldiers which need to be drafted. All it would take is some rookie heroes or some trigger-happy soldiers to approach an unstable Inhuman to unleash a mega-ton event which makes the Government go into a Zero Tolerance policy with ALL superhumans. Spider-Man gets caught between Tony (his idol) and Steve (his heroic inspiration) over which side he should join.

That's what Steve is warning Tony about. All it takes is someone jumping the gun and start rounding up people without reason to avoid a disaster and it ends up causing the Civil War because people get killed.

During a recent interview with RDJ regarding Civil War, he said the following:

QuoteThe main thing to me is, and this is where I think the Russos are quite brilliant and where Kevin backed the play, is what sort of incident could occur and what sort of framework could we find Tony in? The clues are in Ultron about where we might find him next. But what would it take for Tony to completely turn around everything he's stood for, quote-unquote, because he was the right-wing guy who could still do his own thing. When the first Iron Man came out the liberals and conservatives were both like, 'You're our guy'. Yes! Score! But the idea of Tony being able to march into Washington and say, 'I'll sign up', wouldn't have made sense if the political climate in the real world hadn't shifted the way it has. It's a little bit of things following a real world continuum in, 'What would you do?'

So, I think that puts the issue to rest. Tony will undergo a major shift by the end of Age Of Ultron and the beginning of Civil War.

The whole Spidey-unmasking thing to me would be a hard sell in the MCU version of Civil War - almost no one has a secret identity, so the focus on revealing a hero's identity seems much less important than in the comics.

Well on the one hand I'm glad we're not seeing another high school Peter Parker, but elementary school seems like a weird choice.

HIYOOO!
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.

Talavar

Guys, he's 18.  Youthful looking, sure, but hardly too young for the part.

Shogunn2517

No, I know his age.  I get what they're doing.  Not only do I get it, I accept it and I actually think it's a pretty good idea.  Calling the hero a man when in reality he's hardly.  Which is what they commentary is for.  They're not going to portray him as 18.  He'll be a teenager just like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were.  Though they were in their mid-20s when they took the role.  He's fine.  Looks the part.  Hope he does well...

Just don't ask me to accept an 18-year old as a "man".   ;)

JeyNyce

I can just see it:

Cap: What's your name son?
Spidey: I'm Spider-man!
Iron Man: Spider-man? Spider-man??  He looks more like Spider-kid!

Frankly i prefer an actor that has the benefit of grwoing up in the screen and becoming more relatable than 28 actors playing high-school Peter. Asa can grow up, Gardfield or Maguire didn't have that privilege.

JeyNyce

I think having Asa as Peter/ Spidey is a great idea.  I liked him in Ender's Game.  Now the next important issue to cover:  What Spidey suit will he be wearing and how will he look in it?  My Thoughts:

He's a kid, so he won't have "The Spidey suit" yet.  He'll have something like Tobey wore in the first spidey movie, then during Civil War, Tony make him the Iron Spider suit, and then later on he gets The Spider-man suit

One of the producers behind the movies stated that he is currently active in the Movieverse in a homemade suit that he put together out of whatever.

Rad, he was my choice for Pete, too.
I think he's got some acting chops and he'll be able to grow into the role. Better him than the weird kid Fox got for Nightcrawler (which I think is great casting for that role)

BentonGrey

Sheesh, he does look like a baby, doesn't he?  I don't know what the kid is like, not having seen Ender's Game, but he does seem to be a bit young looking to me.  Still, I have no strong feelings about it.

On a side note, Ender's Game was a pretty good movie.  I didn't think I was going to enjoy it but I did.

Did he do a good job in it?

I certainly thought so.  It was a really good adaptation.

Well Scorsese picked him for Hugo so that says something  :D

Since they are not going to tell the origin of Spidey, do you think MJ or Gwen will be in the movie?

There has been some recent speculation of a particular actor being eyes for a role in the MCU.  This is a recent unconfirmed rumor:
