I, on the other hand, was incredibly disappointed. Sorry, HD!

The acting from the leads was pretty painful. I know it doesn't make sense! Benicio del Toro is usually fantastic but here he just gripes and moans the whole time. Anthony Hopkins, I know it's a werewolf movie but you don't have to chew the scenery THAT much. And Emily Blunt, yet another in a long line of blank faced pretty girls who just speak their lines.

Hugo Weaving was alright as the detective, though he had very little to work with.

The script meanders. There's some pointless twists. It doesn't get into the folklore as much as I would like. Overuse of lousy CGI. Too much gore for gore's sake, and too over the top to be taken seriously.

Sorry if I am ripping it apart here, I just had really high hopes for this one and was greatly let down. I'm going to have to go rewatch Ginger Snaps or An American Werewolf in London or something to get the taste out.

American Werewolf in London is easily my favorite Werewolf movie of all time. That movie was just brilliant.  My favorite part was when they heard the howls and realized they did not stay on the road and looked at each other in that oh sh#! look.

i cant see that in-depth.i guess ive got a really simple mind when it comes to movies.i did notice it was a combination of the classic wolfman and werewolf of london.they made the wolfmen look like the originals in each movie.you gotta agree that the werewolf effects were cool.AARROOOO!!!! *GAG* sorry...hairball!

I did think their look was cool, yeah. When it was pure FX they looked great, but when they started animating it with CGI it was pretty poor. The transformation sequence was totally lame, which is a shame because there have been some fantastic transformation sequences put to film. In fact, this is basically the money shot for a werewolf movie. Their's, I felt, failed.

Geez, look at me go. I pretty much just lurk now, but I come back to complain about a movie!

On the other hand it totally reminded me that I need to download The Company of Wolves.
EDIT: I mean buy... Or rent. I wouldn't download a movie! Come on!!

Well, I'm really bummed....I'm a big fan of the original Universal Wolf Man film and I had hoped this would be good.  I'll still see it for myself, but I'll have to leave my expectations at the door.

I liked the movie fine. It wasnt the best movie ever but it was worth paying matinee pricing to go see it.

Just seen this last night and liked it. It was campy and fun. They wanted it to be like the original with modern special effects. I thought the transformation scene was ok, not sure what else they could have done with that. I liked how the Wolfman couldn't make up his mind if he wanted to run like a wolf or a man. People in my theater was laughing throughout the movie, so yeah it was campy but fun.

Yeah...Laughter (and camp) are not good signs that this film is good.
