You know, I'm sure SOMEONE else thought about this before, maybe even posted it. But still, I have to ask:

              Emma Frost =vs= Mentor

      Who would win?

P.S. Let's not factor in the "diamond" thing; that's just too easy.
Dark Phoenix: You once told Jean Grey that the greatest joy a teacher has is to be surpassed by his own pupil. Enjoy!
Professor Xavier: In the battlefield of the mind, my will shall prevail!
DP: Do you really think your puny mind is a match for mine? The conceit of you humans! The arrogance!

Well, lets factor in the diamond thing. Its far from a foregone conclusion even then.

Emma has some degree of invulnerability, doesnt need to eat or breathe, and has enough strength to break someones neck (New X-Men 115) and no active psychic powers. Mentor also has no useful psychic powers, since Emma is Psi-Immune, but is possibly telekinetic according to some early descriptions, but definitely has some kind of radiation weaponry and a TK shield that would block any physical attack Emma is capable of. So its pretty much stalemate while Emma is in diamond form, unless Mentor's got a beam that can bypass her diamond skin. Maybe his Penetrating Beam?
Mentor's also got some degree of super-intelligence and since both live in vgery high tech environments, can possibly cannibalise something to help.

Any time she likes, Emma can drop to human form and both now have powerful telepathic attacks. Lets assume she can get the drop on Mentor and attack first, since she's choosing whether to fight physically or psychicaly at any moment.
(Unless Mentor decides to irradiate the environment with a low level radiation thats detrimental to humans. Or just tells her he has, the sly old dog...)

All this aside, Mentor is probably overconfident and aloof enough to believe himself immune to her feminine wiles, being a different species and all. But his time amongst humans has softened this rogue warrior of the Dominion! He finds himself overcome.. by strange feelings... feeling the like of which he has never experienced before! Is this what it means... to be human??? To feel???
Whilst monologuing like this, the White Queen zaps him in the shiny big old dome and he falls down. The end.

I think Emma's diamond form would not be that much of a threat to Mentor. He could simply levitate away from her physical attacks, and if she tries to throw anything at him, he could lift his kinetic barrier to protect himself. Also, while in diamond form, she can lift only 2 tons, according to Marvel Database, which is not enough to throw anything big enough at Mentor that could overwhelm his protections. Mentor would only have to stay away from her by way of levitation, using his psychic powers to detect a flaw in her diamond form. Once he found it, he'd zap her there, and she would shatter to pieces.

If she fought Mentor in her human form, it'd be tough for both of them, as both have powerful psychic defenses. But, as they try to probe each others' minds, I suppose that, eventually, Mentor would find an opportunity to obliterate Emma's flesh form with one of his radiation attacks.

Interesting accounts. Here's how it spans out in my mind...

Emma and Mentor stand on opposite ends of a block in, let just say, a standard city map. Emma, true to form, mocks her opponent's abilities, saying something along the lines of his mental powers being 'infantile' in comparison to her own. Mentor doesn't fall for this subtle manipulation: Emma now knows his level of discipline. ADVANCE!

Ms. Frost begins probing Mentors mind, attempting to seek out and bypass any open spots in his defences. Mentor concentrates and deflects some of her attacks, but he's already begun losing some ground. Simultaneously, he lifts a dumpster telekinetically and hurls it at her. She dives out of the way, and Mentor immediately seizes this oppurtunity to fire off an electron beam at her. It hits her, and she falls to her knees, injured.

She's not done yet, though. When Mentor attempts to shut-down the White Queen's mind, she deflects the attack and shifts his perception completely out of whack. The strength of the mind blast is enough to do considerable damage, yet he survives. During recovery, she psionically blasts him, firing off his synaptic nerves. Mentor still won't go down!

But he is hurt. He masks his presence from her psionically and retreats to regain his concentration. What he doesn't know, however, is that powerful Emma Frost had been scanning his psyche the entire fight, and finally did get through (listen, if she could get past the defences of such powerful psychics as Xavier and Phoenix, Mentor ain't no thang). Letting Mentor believe that he successfully escaped, Emma has made her own presence unknown, and when Mentor is hiding in atop a building....

                    ZAPP!!!

      Game over, moon man.
