I'm going to ignore my visceral feelings and just post the quote:

Quote from: http://www.newsarama.com/tv/jeph-loeb-televsion-marvel-100628.htmlNew York, NY – June 28,  2010 – Marvel Entertainment, LLC announced today that it has appointed Jeph Loeb as Executive Vice President, Head of Television, a newly created division of Marvel Entertainment.  In this new role, Mr. Loeb will work alongside Dan Buckley, Publisher &  President of the Print, Animation & Digital Divisions, Marvel Worldwide, Inc., to translate Marvel’s popular characters and stories to the television medium, in both live-action and animation formats. In addition to these responsibilities, Mr. Loeb will oversee the development and distribution of live-action, animated and direct-to-DVD series. Mr. Loeb was previously a Marvel-exclusive Eisner-Award-winning comic book writer and an Emmy-nominated writer for his work on NBC’s Heroes. The announcement was made today by Alan Fine, Executive Vice President, Office of the President and Chairman of Marvel Studios’ Creative Committee, and by Mr. Buckley, to whom Mr. Loeb will report.

Mr. Fine stated, “It’s with tremendous pride that I announce the creation of our Marvel Television division and the appointment of Jeph Loeb as Executive Vice President. His work in the comic book field is in a class of its own, showing his passion and talent for bringing Marvel’s finest characters to life in an innovative manner. Jeph’s work on multiple award-winning television series and popular films has shown fans worldwide his ability to deliver thrilling entertainment in a number of media. With Jeph as our EVP, fans will experience the highest quality and most exciting television projects featuring their favorite Marvel characters.”

“I couldn’t be happier to accept this new position at Marvel Entertainment, working with both Dan and Alan to deliver exciting, cutting edge television projects,” said Mr. Loeb. “Marvel continues to break new ground in storytelling in both their comic book and film ventures, so, along with everyone here, I’m excited to bring the same brand of excitement into homes across the globe.”

How do we feel about this? My immediate reaction is dread mixed with apprehension of what could happen. The last thing I want is for Jeph to have more control over things I like, especially when he's no where near top form.

Maybe it's a good thing.  Maybe he'll be so busy being a VP that he'll leave the writing to people who are at the top of their game.  Maybe we need to lobby that Bendis gets a VP spot and get him off mangling the books he's currently meddling in.  Maybe if Marvel makes enough of these guys VP's we can get the writers we like on the books we like.

And maybe Mickey Mouse will join the Avengers.

I agree with BlueBard's speculations.  I believe it's because he does have TV experience - and may know the rules of that game a little better than most of Marvel's talent -except Reggie Hudlin if he's still around.
Maybe Loeb will be too busy with Super Hero Squad....

Heh, we saw what happened the last time Loeb was in the TV realm. :P. No, Reggie isn't around in the comic world right now, but his BP show did premier online on Zune, Itunes, PS3, and Xbox live last week. I have no idea what happened to the BET deal.

Highly disappointing but not unexpected. Can anyone think of good show he was involved in? Both Heroes and Smallville had their moments but neither could really be considered good on the whole.

Loeb discusses some of his plans: Video link

Get ready for some hour (or their actual length... 28-35 minutes) long drama for ABC, y'all!

As an aside, how lame is it that Ironman: Armored Adventures and Superhero Squad got new seasons when both Spidey and X-men, the superior shows, got canceled?

Very. But the reasons for both were supposedly out of Marvel's hands.
