Galactic Civilizations II - any fans?

I grabbed this off of the 9.99 rack recently and I've been playing around with it a bit.  Anyone around here a fan?  It really is "Civs in Space," which is a a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

i tried it for a short period.  i prefer master of orion 2, have you played that one?

I have Galactic Civilizations II but got bored with it after a couple of months. Still have it on my computer but haven't played with it in a while.

The Master of Orion games were awesome. They also made one that was really good called Master of Magic, but sadly it didn't sell well enough to justify a sequel.

Bought it, but just couldn't get into it.  I think I gave it to a friend.

I thought it was deep and fun but I was able to break it pretty baddly with some crazy sniper ships I made. Next thing you know I had wiped out the "warrior race" in the galaxy and everyone loved me for it.

I definetly loved the Master of Orion games.  I seem to remember Master of Magic being cool but i really don't remember the game play or why i liked it.  Can anyone provide a quick summary to refresh my memory?

I never played the Galactic Civ ones though, i will have to check them out.

I was just playing MOO the other day!  I was on the losing end of a 3-way battle royale between myself, the Psilons and Meklars.

Which race were you playing as?

You know, I was looking up the MOO games yesterday and realized I only played the first two. Can't remember why I never bought the third one, because the first two were incredible.

OK, the point of this thread was to confirm how great the game I have is, not how great some game I don't have is.   :rolleyes:

It IS a great game... and once you break it witha  cool ship design... try giving more intelligence to the machine... i got pwned so badly  that i'm still sore -_-
