I'm FINALLY reading the Irredeemable Ant Man by Kirkman.  Yes, yes...I know...shame on me.  It is REALLY funny and good.  Well...which has me wondering of course...has anyone skinned this version of Ant Man???:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ant-Man_(Eric_O'Grady)  Just curious.  It would be fun to see him in the Rumble Room!

djfredski

:( No V i been hoping someone will do that Ant Man but so far that a no go.
so i am with you on that one.

billdamn22

Ya know... I was planning on doing him, but I figured one of the mainstream pro skinners would have done him by now. I may yet get to him, but I am not getting much time for skinning these days.

tommyboy

He's on my list, my "I never seem to make anything anymore but if I did he would be one of them" list.
Maybe when or if I ever get back to FF meshing I'll give him a go...

Dr.Volt

Well, good to know there's still interest.  Thanks!!

Podmark

I was working on a skope of him way back, it was for Murs actually or I would have skinned it. I ran into some problems and never finished it.

That would be great Tommy. I will now use my mental powers to force you to want to mesh again....not working is it?....maybe I need to be bland and in a wheelchair for it to work.

Let's not underestimate the power of bland, I actually did a bit of meshing today....not ant-man, but it's a start...

Could it be then that irredeemable one may be close behind???  Might we see something like a "irred_antman_tf" perhaps?

Nah, nope, niet, no way!

...it'll be "antman3_tf" if I make him...

tommyboy

antman3_tf, a W.I.P. (ie now I have to do the furshlugginer keyframes to have him shrink/grow/arms shrink and grow etc etc). Geometry and skin are pretty much done, methinks:

Thanks!!!

YAY!!!

It looks awesome Tommy. Thank you for doing this.

I was hoping the Ringmaster release meant Ant-man 3 was shortly to follow. You are the best Tommyboy my friend.

tommyboy's meshes have a history of prompting many skinners to do new skins for these characters.  Moreover, I've rarely heard tommyboy say anything contrary to "The more the merrier!" when it comes to skinning his meshes.  I would eagerly look forward to a billdamn skin of the latest Ant-Man, as well as skins by anyone else. :)

Superb work on this character, as always, Tom.  I have to take my hat off to you for demonstrating the guts and the skill to work with ponytails in bipeds.  Four limbs (with each of their parent-child pieces (upper arm, forearm, etc.)) are enough of a challenge for me without the added hurdle of animating ponytails.   I look forward to Ant-Man's release. :)

Thank you all kindly for the praise.
I wasn't 100% convinced by the ant-arm/legs, which were basically my Iron-spidey legs re-mapped and re-skinned, so I made him some new ones that I think are closer to his than spidey's;

The animation is likely to take a while, involving as it will animating the legs to move/grow/shrink as well as the whole mesh needing to grow/shrink. I've started work on it today, but it may take a good few days or even a week.
And I might even consider some particle effects on the end of the legs to show the jets/flames he fires out of them, but I don't know if that's going to work with all the other shrinkage/growth stuff. As far as I know I can't recall anything like it being done before, and I don't know if I'll have the enthusiam to slog through the extra work it will require.

I know I've already posted my pleasure in seeing this created but I feel like doing it again.

Yes!

That would be radically cool to see particle effects.  But I'm just happy to see him!  He's looking even better with the new legs!  Thanks again!!!

tommyboy

Aaaand he's released!
The geometry is just about OK, the skin barely adequate and the keyframes rather poor, but he's arguably slightly better than no mesh at all.
