how come, the Thing has five fingers in human form, but when he is in monstrous thing form, he only has 3 fingers?  where do the extra fingers go?  is he rock all the way down, or is his human body covered in rocks?  does he have rocks on the inside of his mouth?  is that why his voice sounds gravelly?  does he have bones?

During  Mark Waid's now classic FF run, it was clearly shown that Mr. Grimm had rock plating about his body, and was not rock completely through and through. (Unthinkable, FF 499 and 500). This was shown when the  aforementioned Mr. Grimm got the  snot beat out of him by things that looked like Nameless Ones from Dormmau's dimension.

As for Whether Mr. Grimm can get Busy - There must've been a reason Ms. Masters stuck around  all that time other than tea at the baxter building.
