Trouble With Religion

A few months ago I started to doubt my religion, my friend died horrible death and I thought "Why would God do that to someone so young?". My family and I have never really been religious but we all were basically Christian. Anyways, I told my friends that I was Atheist and they all got upset, exsept the ones that were Atheist. :D

So then, I started looking around at other religions to see if any made sense but none really spoke to me. Any help?

Two things.

1) Religious discussion is banned on FR, along with politics. It invariably turns into a flame war, usually when I make a flippant remark expressly designed to offend people, and they get offended.

2) Shopping for a new religion like you're looking at a new car ("So, how's yours working out for you?") is kind of missing the point. Wait for something to inspire you.
