Some of you might remember that my girlfriend moved in at the start of the year which is a big part of why I havent been posting nearly as much. While she has a wonderfully nerdy side to her she just doesent get games, comics and rpg's the way I do. That means that I've had to mature up my act except selected weekends with my friends where we still hop on the lan or throw down a magic the gathering match with my friend Tom's 10 gazillion cards. Still when she first got here she bought herself a flight home for nearly a month which I encouraged (she really misses her family in california).

Well now it looks like I'm getting a whole lot more nerdy seclusion than I ever counted on, so I intend to use it as a sabbatical of antisocial fun. What I need are comic, movie and game recomendations to rot my brain with and to distract me from the fact that I wont be getting any romance for a while. Got any recomendations?

My platforms:
PC
Nintendo DS

My favorite genres:
Horror (althought not too gory)
Very near future Sci-fi (I'm not the star treck or star wars type, more cyberpunk)
All manner of Indy and Foreign, movies, novels and games.
Non fiction and documentaries

Comics
Make mine marvel, image or avatar, although I'll read some DC, Vertigo, Dark Horse and Indy titles.

My most recent favorite stuff:
The world ends with you, Marvel TCG for DS, Team Fortress, Sam and Max on gametap (which I'm behind on), Punisher Max, Next (Michael Chriton), Fido (zombie movie), Company of Heroes, Crysis, I'm a cyborg but that's OK, Guitar Hero 3, Bunch of Chuck Palniuk novels (fight club guy), tons of podcasts.

So what can I waste the month of June with? Any good PC releases or comic events?

(Kind of wish she did this in September so I could dedicate a month to Spore).

Portal is great, if you haven't played it, I recommend, I just now played it with my new video card, but you'll still have 29 and a half days to kill :).
M:TG is a fun game, but its also kinda miserable and addicting for some reason. I play it online every day and I don't really enjoy it too much.
Bioshock sounds like you'd like.

detourne_me

nice choices :D
i loved the world ends with you, but i'm horrendous at completing games.
some DS suggestions:
strategy:
advance wars (any game)
drone tactics - really new, kind of like a cross between front mission and super robot taisen- but with bugs, really customizable
action:
the transformers games
spider-man friend or foe - probably the best comics game on the DS
Speed Racer ! a really fun racer, and a different dynamic than mario kart

Lunarman

The only two games I play at the moment are WoW and GW. However they are both mmo fantasy type things.

One notable gaming release is the spore demo which comes out on the 17th of June. Spore will be massive and i cant wait!

Thanks, I just about need a new ds game so I might check out drone tactics (I'll play anything that has tactics). I have finished all the orange box games and bioshock, those ruled. Hmm... Maybe I'll consider a MMORPG for a while.

BTW what magic client are you using?

Have you seen the movie "Perfume"?  I'm debating, with myself, whether it's a story of a hero or a villain or both.   Its got horror moments but not too much gore.  Story of a mutant with a heightened sense of smell.  You can also watch "Day Night Day Night" good story about a female suicide bomber?  Critics say it works the Kafka angle....I tend to agree.

lugaru

I was very fond of the perfume and you totally need to read the book. It's got some absolutely amazing monologues that dont make their way into the movie, especially the narration for the scenes where he actually gets his hands on the perfume at the end.

I'm going to add Perfume to my book list too...along with Prestige (there was so much good material that I don't think the movie did the story justice).  I guess when I get back to the states I'll spend all my time Barnes & Noble (just like old times).

Magic Online (the official one), I try not to spend too much money on it, but I play it because my friends/playgroup decided to start playing a new game called Smoke Pot in Spare Time.
