UnkoMan

Has anybody read this new series? Writen by Steve Niles, art by Scott Hampton. I'll also mention colours by Chris Chuckry, since they are awesome.

I am really quite liking it so far. I don't have issue 1, 2, or 4 though. Missed out. What I've read has been neat, however. It's a weird little tale about a fella stiched together from body parts, who tries to protect people in his neighbourhood. There's a cop, a coroner, and a teen girl rounding out the supporting cast so far. There's a mysterious cult doing very evil things. There's the secret of Simon's origin and place in the world. It's interesting, and I'm enjoying it.

And it looks GREAT. That was actually the real reason I picked it up. Sure, Steve Niles is alright. I enjoy horror. But it was all about the creepy looking character and the subtle art. It's a bit weird to get used to at first. Some lines are really crisp, some are really sketchy or blurry. And it all appears to be overlaid on seemingly painted colours, in incredibly muted tones. Simon's bright red shirt really stands out.

Anyhow, I'm basically saying I love it. I hope to read more. Looks like I'm going to actually be buying issues of a new comic for the first time since I bought Peter Parker: Spider-Man in high school... Wow.
