The elephant is a better artist than I am.

Seems very stylized somehow... For people, it is a talent to be able to pick out a few lines from an actual object that represent it well on a 2D canvas. I wonder if the training is by showing the elephant a similar painting that it learns to copy or if it is directly from a real life scene or memory?

From the little I know of the cognitive process, there is no way an elephant could do that directly from a live scene. That and the fact that the art style is very much Indian. ;)

Which should not detract from the very real achievements here: very impressive trainer work, plus amazingly impressive display of learning, memory and motor skill from the elephant.
