Request for help with a New Character: FIELD

Greetings to all of you FF-wizards,

I have been thinking about making a new character based on a Xmen-Xavier School fanfiction I am writing. The character isn't my avatar perse (he is actually based off of my son) but I have been stumped the few times I have tried to make him in the FFv3TR/FFX.

He isn't very original, but I am having fun with him in the fiction.

His code/school name is Field

And yes he creates a force field around him, but his field is more than a shield, he can shape is field sort of like Green Lantern, but he doesn't create objects in a distance, only connected to his body and can only be expanded about three feet from his body.

Note: when his field is manifested, it is mostly invisible, it is easier to notice it shimmering around his body when you aren't looking directly at it/him.

So far this is what his field has been able to do:

Force Shield (doh) (but so far the field had been ablative in nature, after he receives so much damage the field fails and he gets light headed)
Claws/sword/lance (max three feet long)
Superstrength (per the fiction, the field wraps tightly around his body and when his muscles flex the field flexes mimicing super strength)
Enhanced Reflexes (again from the field wrapped around his body tightly)
Jumping (same)
Mental Defense (When the Field is up his mind can not be read but he can still be damaged mentally with the Field only giving him some protection)
Tentacles sensors (multiple 'threads' of his field extended out to 10 feet but these tentacles only allow him to feel his immediate surroundings, they have no strength or substance, the are mostly immaterial, when felt by another, a slight tingling sensation is given off by the tentacles)

Theoretically he will be able to do the following: (meaning, I think it is possible for him to do so but have not written the fiction to this point and not sure if he will develp these)

Flight: shaping the field like Angel's wings is the obvious route but not sure if want him to it that way; the other two options would be smaller wings of propulsion (a la Namors ankle wings) and him shaping crude moving compressors (re: jet engines) but I am fairly certain that don't want him to be able to have that much control for fast moving parts of his field.
Shapes/Cages/Containment/etc: Not sure if this is a viable function because of the 3 foot limit to the field.
I am dancing with the idea of a limit range attack but so far not comfortable with it because I have not been able to think of a reason of how and why.

Now, outside of the theoretical portion, I see his abilities and think he would be easy to make but I have yet to make a version that I was happy with.

Stats wise I see this:

Str:3 (powers bump it to 6)
Agl:3 (powers bump it to 6)
Spd:3 (powers bump it to 6)
End:4
Eng:4 (maybe 5 to generate his field)

Atributes is stumping me because I am not sure if stats like claws and/or blitzkrieg should be used or shown in the power section
Jumping

Power wise
Normal no cost weak punch
Field Shield is Active protecting against Mental, Crushing, Piercing and maybe Acid or energy
Piercing punch attack to simulate the him forming his field into a sword or claws using low eng

Where I am stumped is how best to simulate his enhanced abilities with the field (the pumping of levels) and the shield themselve (using basic FF, son had the FFv3R cd in his puter) an active field to protect at 80% three attacks was costing like 60K, which isn't what I wanted because this kid isn't in Supes level).

It's an interesting concept.  Is the field always active?  When using part of it for claws or a sword (as an example), does the entire field need to be up, or can it be just down to that particular piece?

For a mesh, with a field always on, it would probably need a hexx, or most likely a NifSkope, starting with one of the male_basic_aura's.  Wings, claws, and a sword (I don't know if there's a lance made already somewhere, but it should be easily makeable) would preferably be made to appear as the same color as the aura, appearing only during specific animations.

If the field isn't always on, you could always do a temp form for the full field version, and the normal form could manifest just portions of the field (would need something like the above, but without the aura on all the time.....or, even just specific FX's for the melee's.....flight would be more difficult.)

For stats, with the field always on, you should just bump them up to where they should be, because other than 300%-er, I don't think there's currently a way to enhance a single ability for a short time.  Metabolic works, but usually with a trigger that isn't always controllable (can't look it up at the moment to be sure).

Not sure how to keep the costs down, for such a strong field.  It may just take some playing with it, or even playing with different materials, to simulate the resistances of the field itself, instead of what the character is made from.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, it just shows me how much I still have to learn about this game (hint: I don't remember reading about skopf's the last time I read up on mesh's, skins and FX's).

As for the field, it isn't supposed to be always active but in the fiction he does have it on or active a a far about of time, so game wise it might be easier to say that it is always active or on and in the game just has his stats reflect that, though there is on character that i have played, in Tommy's LSH Ultraboy's switching of characters stats seem similar, here Field's stats would be the 3's when the force field is up and would switch to the 6's when the field morphs into mimicing super str, spd and agl.

As the field itself, yes, when it is manifested, his whole body is covered.

BUGGER,

Not happy. My son brought home a few comic tradebacks from the library and I just read the Atonishing Xmen Vol 3 and there is a girl going to the school that has a power very similar to Field called Armor. Grrr. I wiki'd her, thankfully her armor provides just strength and defense with the ability to release a concussive blast.
