is there any, for some reason mine has basically stopped working and wont load, even thought when i start task manager its not shown in applications but in processes

i dont know what happened. i recently bought the xplosiv re release of :ffvstr: and installed it fine and everything worked, then for some reason when i moved my meshs into correct folder

appdata\local\irr games\ffvsttr\custom\art\library\characters

no nothing works not the game or the character tool with the exception of ffedit and nifviewer, i have uninstalled and reinstalled it multiple times even tryed moving the meshs back and forth between folders. i even tryed a system restore to a few days before installed the game for the first time and it did nothing.

i'm working on my vista laptop, but it should cause any problem cause i've been using the CT2 on it now from when i got it back around summer last year, and the game did load up.

so the way i'm looking at this at the moment i cant skin, well i can but i cant preview them :(

This is a shot in the dark since I don't have that version of the game or Vista, but I would be tempted to run regedit and look at the game paths. It it possible that some of the settings for the release you have are different from what CTool2 is expecting and it is not finding what it needs.

BTW, if CTool2 is showing up in the process list but not as an app (it should be both), then I would use the End Process option to kill it. Sometimes a process doesn't completely quit properly and that can keep it from re-launching (and sometimes it can interfere with other related apps launching if they share some of the same DLLs, etc.).

i've ended the process multiple times nothing happens, whats this regedit, i'm basically moronic when it comes to programmes in a pc outside of art based ones

appdata\local\irr games\ffvsttr\custom\art\library\characters doesnt seem like the right directory for meshes

look if this directory exists on your pc
C:\Program Files\Irrational Games\Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich\Custom\Art\library\characters

I agree that that directory doesn't seem like either the Windows folder or the folder under the base game folder. You could check this from regedit, but that isn't the easiest thing to check if you aren't familiar with it. If you go to the Start Menu  and choose "Run..." and enter regedit, it will open. Don't change anything if you aren't familiar with it. But, you can go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Irrational Games and check out what's there.

If you look at the FFVTTR entry (assuming it's the same as the north american version), you will see an InstallDir entry. I would tend to keep my meshes in a ..\custom\art\library\characters folder under that directory. Obviously, you can also find the base game folder just by looking at the game shortcut, but in regedit, it's sometime interesting to check out other folder settings, like the ones for FFEdit and so on.

If you keep the meshes under the Windows ..\Documents and Settings\.. tree, is the folder you mentioned earlier under that tree? In other words, if you go into the game and create a HERO file, does it show up in one of those adjacent folders?

i cant go into the game at all now, it wont even load.

that folder was created by the game not me, from what i can gather its the vista equivalent of documents and settings on xp.

i did store my meshs in the irrational games but there is some sort of safety thing in vista that if i edit a file thats in programme files it saves it in a virtual folder. so they dont show up in the programme files section

anyway the tree i said in the first post when the game could open before i did the system restore the meshs loaded up fine but the ct2 didn't. i wish i hadn't even bought the bloody game in the first place now

You could always preview them in nifskope.

the_ultimate_evil

i thought about that, its just the unreliability of nifskope to show the skin
