Who do guys think would be the ultimate 4 man team for Freedom Force? And why?

The 4 man team combination, that could easily beat all of their arch enemies combined. Freedom Force's royal flush. In basketball terms, their starting 4 or all star players.

Is it a combination of Minuteman, El diablo, Mentor , and Alchemiss?

This could be either in  :ff: or  :ffvstr: .

USAgent

I would go with
Supercollider, Tombstone, Bullet, and El diablo (need a flyer)

YoungHeros

Something like this:
Supercollider, Tombstone, Alchemiss and Green Genie

catastrophe

Supercollider, Tombstone, Alchemiss/El Diablo, Minuteman

thats the one i usualy use, i prefer Alchemiss over El Diablo in FFvTTR as El Diablo's accuracy ruins alot of good chances to take out do-badders

GGiant

Manbot(power),Ant or Mentor(brains), Alchemiss(Mystic), Iron ox or minute man or supercollider(brawn)
But really, I would say it's the original FF team Minute Man, Mentor, El Diablo, and Manbot
Minute man for O'connor or Shadow
Mentor for Lord Dominion
El Diablo for Nuclear Winter
Manbot for Time Master

There are lots of really good squads to be made of the FF characters. When they have most of their powers bought, I think a very strong combo is

  • Man-Bot: His ability to transfer power and energize others is a huge benefit. All the other characters who have a really kick butt power that they can't use much because of EP cost now suddenly can use that power quite often. (He works well in combination with teammates other than the three I've listed for this reason as well.) He is also capable of both taking and dishing out pretty good damage on his own.
  • Green Genie: She is a great helper character - she can get slow characters around the map quickly with her buoyancy, teleport swap, and speed increase powers; her static zap doesn't do huge damage, but gets by most defenses and stands a good chance of stunning an opponent. And her charged melee attack does great damage, hits often, and even does awesome stun and KB. Moreover, when you need a break, her object lesson and polymorph powers are a great way to buy time (heaven only knows how many times I've turned the subterraneans into vases and hurled them across the map!).
  • Microwave: What can I say? I love Microwave, even nerfed as he is for FFvT3R. With Man-Bot helping out, he can create a small army of clones and his penetrating energy beam does solid damage. Moreover, many villains with high health are also tough against crushing damage. With his genetic damage power, they are suddenly much more wimpy. And, obviously, that power is absolutely death to someone like Entropy, once it affects her.
  • Quetzalcoatl: Like GG, old 'Coat-tail is another great helper character (energy regain, healing, sacrifice, primary and secondary state removal, etc.) who also does great damage with his crushing beam attack. That's another power that is great versus one of these tough guy characters who has been gene damaged.

And, lots of other characters deserve honorable mention as good teammates. For instance, when a baddy has some impenetrable active defense (e.g. Fortissimo), it is great to possess them (wait until the defense is almost run out of time), then force them to land and take whatever punishment the teammates can dish out.

my 4 are super collider,man-o-war,microwave, and bullet.

UnkoMan

I have to agree with the majority it seems.

Really, all I ever needed was Tombstone. He was way overpowered, being able to survive a good length of time, and dish out huge amounts of damage in types that most of the difficult bad guys were weak to.

Supercolider is good for sheer strength.

Alchemiss is great when you need to distract people a bit.

Of course, I really like The Ant, but he wasn't all that useful in the second game. Does alright in the first though.
