Interesting... I don't think I've ever seen them announce the exact date of a major update over a day ahead of time before. Annoying that it's on a Wednesday, though... I can rarely play on Wednesday nights...

MJB

I can try to be online Wednesday if anyone wants to run some of the new O-zone content.

It is interesting, and true as far as I my memory recalls. An outcome of their new organization, perhaps?  :o

Of course, this all happens in the midst of my second move in three months, so I may not be on very much to enjoy the roll-out.  I hope to be playing a little this week, then re-installed by early next week (if all goes well).  I've been on test a bit myself, so I'll be glad to be of help with new stuff.

New Stuff - weeee!

I'll probably be on either late, late Wed or after 10 PM EST on Thursday.  Looking forward to it!

Very weird that they'd announce it... they usually don't give advance notice to make the New Issue Stampede as gradual as possible. The idea is that if people know in advance when it's out, they'll plan around it, and it means they get 95% of the population on in the first night, rather than 60-75% the first night and ramping up to 100 over a few days.

I dunno. Maybe all those "Improved Server Stability" patches were more substantial than we asssumed. :P

BlueBard

Well, think about it... They've already announced the dates for the debt wipe and prestige grant.  I assume the idea is to give people as much time as possible to get into the new content before they run into the holidays.  I assume there will be another winter event starting around January or so, so the time frame is tight.

And here's hoping for stable servers!

Speaking of I11, what's your initial impressions; especially RE: the new powersets?

I assume some of you already have your Dual Blade/Willpower toons to 50...what!?!?  Geez, how'd we get so many slackers here?

Camma

Some of the best new stuff since i dunno when.  So far Im liking the new power sets.  Well DBs at least is a blast.  Willpower will be hard to judge until the mid 20s when you both get into more of the meat of it AND go against more difficult baddies.

What little bit of the new higher level content ive seen has been really cool as well.  I am loving the new OreoBurrito Zone and the whole time travel concept behind it gives almost infinite possibilities.

Alaric

This may be my all-time favorite update- and I've still got a LOT of it I haven't gotten around to playing with yet.

As far as the new power sets go- I LOVE wp. So far, it's exactly the defensive set I've been wanting since the game came out. Visually, I like the fact that the effects aren't as overwhelming as some of the other defensive sets- fits a lot of my concepts better. I'm building my wp tanker mostly defensively, and, so far, he soloes really well- better than otehr similarly-leveled tankers I've played, in fact, even if his fights sometimes take a little longer than I'd like. I haven't played him on a team yet- can't wait to try that, though I'm a little nervious about tanking on a pug, since I'm not an experienced tanker. I got him to 10th level last night, and started a SG- I'll probably advertise it in a bit. I've already created several other wp cahracters, too- including a new version of my brute, Crazy Kate (no, I haven't deleted Kate- this one's on Protector).

So far, I've only made one db character (a db/sr scrapper)- the basic concept of the set doesn't apeal to me that much, except when the blades are foils, as they are on the one character. I have to admit, the animations are the best overall attack animations in the game, and the set is more fun to play than I expected.

GhostMachine

Fun thing I discovered by accident:

Dark Barbaric hair and clean beard + Mirror sunglasses (face doesn't really matter) = Sylvester Stallone from the movie "Nighthawks". I realized this after I changed Buck McLeod's hair to Barbaric, but decided to stick with it.

I would like to announce one thing I'm really happy about: Munitions Mastery did get the Assault Rifle mods, so GhostMachine is no longer stuck using the super soaker!

As for the new powersets, I like Dual Blades so far but can't say much about Willpower yet. I have a lvl 4 db\wp Scrapper and only have the first wp power.

I don't care for most of the new male hairstyles; I wish there was a longer version of Cornrows, Crewcut should probably be named Buzzcut, and Shark or Pomp (I think that's what it called) could be used if someone wanted to make some Misfits themed characters. using those to substitute for a devillock. Really surprised I haven't seen anyone with the Greaser hairstyle made up like a 50's biker (ala Fonzie or Grease characters) or Elvis yet....

Bujin

Loving dual blades / willpower!  (Had enough fun in beta to re-roll the Buj as DB/WP and enjoying it immensely.)

Tortuga

This issue proves it.  The devs need to release a new power set with each issue.  I don't care if they have to stay up all night.  They just gotta.  Even if it's taking an existing set and modifying it for another AT (hello devs, Plant Control for controllers...) it simply must be done.

Oh, and more weapons.  I've requested a plunger and broom in the weapons customization request thread on the CoH forums.  The Custodian must have more tools!
