Positron says...

QuoteHey guys and gals,

I wanted to apologize for not having the 42 month Veteran Reward ready for you on the actual 42 month date.

The 42 month reward IS going into Issue 11, so when that goes live, all qualifying characters will have the reward issued immediately upon log in.

What is it?

We are going with a "Recall Team" Veteran power, usable once every 30 minutes. We like this as a Vet Reward because it is a nice perk we can give our Veteran players that shouldn't make players who don't have it feel left out. The power can be used only once every 30 minutes, and this can't be reduced by Hasten or other recharge reducing methods. This makes it very handy in certain situations, but obviously not required by any stretch of the imagination.

I will post info on the 45 month reward soon after Issue 11 launches onto the Live servers.

Gotta' say... having to wait until issue 11 hits live is bad form.  They've never been tied to an issues release before and have seemed independant of anything and automatic.  Looking more and more like to me that Cryptic got caught with their pants down.  Makes me wonder a bit about them saying they had this all planned out for 5 years.  Planned maybe... but definately not implemented.  ;)

Any matters.  I like it as a veteran reward power.  :)  No clue when I'll ever get to use it though, lol.

Whatever it is, I ought to be getting it on Friday.

Woohoo?

Maybe not.

Lighthouse dropped in a word about it on the official forums...

QuoteHey everyone,

I'm working with the dev team on a statement about this, but apparently the live version has a placeholder badge for the 42 month reward. We totally intend to put something nifty to back up that badge, but unfortunately the live version doesn't include that.

I'll have more details as I get them. Our apologies that 42 months was not something to look forward to.

Oppps?

Well, as hard as they worked on the coming issue, I'm not all broken up about it.  A tad bit disappointed, because supposedly these things have been planned out for at least 5 years.  So one would think it would be as easy as flipping a switch.

Considering what the last rewards were though --- I don't think anyones holding their breath.  ;)

Speak for yourself.  I've enjoyed the boxing costume options.

I would have liked to have seen a little more done with it.  2 or 3 different styles of belts.  Boots with tassels.  Sparring gear like for the head and waist.  Maybe even a little bit of going into other MMA type of gear, like shin pads.

The boxing options weren't bad, just very, very, very barebones.

I'd love it if they'd give you some of the unique villain/hero group costume options... especially Freakshow.

Tortuga

"Team Recall" is alright.  I'm rarely the first person at a mish, so people may use it on me, but I won't be using it often for others.  :P

Stopman

Recall team power that works despite your current zone....now that would be a cool power. Too bad that's probably not going happen.

B A D

I can see team recall being very useful . thats a much better Veteran Choice than freaking boxing gloves.

Verfall

Pff, lazy bastiches. We already get this power in either the 3rd or 4th Safeguard/Mayhem. Sure it only lasts 2 days of play time, but the recharge is about the same. If it was Stoppy's idea I'd be more enthused, but rehashing is lame.

captainspud

Sands, Axe, Staff, and Wand are all rehashes. People seem to like them.

This is my 2nd favorite mayhem power, and I always mourn its passing. It puts a stop to those aimless PUGs who take twenty minutes to go between missions. You go, you give them thirty seconds' warning, and then boom, everybody's at the mission.

BlueBard

I personally take great offense at being yanked around at someone else's whim.  NOT having group teleport set to 'prompt' has gotten me trips to the hospital more than once.  I can easily see scenarios where clueless veteran instantly TP's his entire team into a team wipe situation.  True, any veteran with that much time in should know better.

Yeah, re-assembling the team at every mission door is a royal pain... but it's better than the alternative wherein folks don't have the option to level, empty out storage, purchase inspirations, etc.

Otherwise, yeah, I think Recall Team is not a bad thing and could be very useful in some cases.

Not quite. They have better accuracy than the temps, and the latter 2 do extra damage based on origin. Plus they make the low game much much easier to bear.

yadda yadda....clueless veteran....yadda yadda

I wanna see a 42 month clueless veteran.

Really I do.

The moment you join a PUG you always run the risk of a team wipe.  Anyone who's played the game more than a month should know this.

Let's print some fake badges,

FERVENT
I've subscribed for 42 months and all I got was this lousy badge!

And to think... a Team Recall power was originally the last (or one of the last) powers in the gravity set back in the beta days.

It was called Fold Space. It was the 8th tier power. Wormhole was originally the 9th tier.

MJB

I've heard people talk about 7th or 8th tier powers, what do you mean? I know what a tier 3 inspiration is but I'm not quite sure what you mean when it comes to abilities.

-MJB

Reepicheep

Basically, the order the powers become accessable

ie, first power is tier 1 power, second is tier 2...

Its just an easy way of sounding clever :)

MJB

If that is the case then there are 23 tiers?

-MJB

Reepicheep

Sorry, I meant for each power set. Theres only 9 tiers per set.
