Saw it. Pretty good take on young Michael. He's a creepy kid. He had a really bad day is all. Tyler Mane plays adult Michael. Didn't realize how tall that guy is. I like the fact that Rob used everybody from the previous movie (Devils Rejects) in this one. Kinda cool.

I saw it yesterday... I was actually suprised at how well Rob Zombie kept the original storyline of the first movie but added a whole new level to Myers at the same time. As a kid you really felt for him as his life started spiraling downward on that fateful Halloween night and the moment the adult Michael shows up (played quietly but quite well by Tyler Mane) you know that he is going to be an unstoppable menace - which we all know is going to upset those uber Halloween fans who loved the classic version as he was reconned into being fueled by a cult and supernatural powers. Zombie made Michael scary again and that is exactly what I was hoping that he would do. Sure there is more blood this time around compaired to the cult classic but you really needed it to keep the "gore shock factor" that horror movies seem to require these days. If you think about how the '70s were about "Grindhouse Cinema" and "Shock And Awe Movies" this film gives us everything you would expect from that time period including the soundtrack filled with memorable tunes and modernized takes on John Carpenter's classic score as well.

I'd personally love to see Rob Zombie take on a few more classic monster villians to see what he can do with them.

The Pwime

I don't understand why this movie is getting such poor reviews.  I think Zombie did a good job of updating the story, and I actually prefer his take on Michael more than the original film.  We learn a lot of the backstory, and Michael's obsession with masks is pretty interesting.  I also like how he handled the older Michael more, with him not being able to drive and whatnot.

Oh well, I liked it.  :)
(by the way, anyone else think that he's still alive?  i know Zombie has no plans for a sequel, but hell, in the sequel to the original, didn't he take a bullet in the eye and then get right back up?)
That last shot looked pretty final to me. They never explained how he got so strong and could shrug off bullet shots and what not, though. Nice to see Danny Trejo again. He was, "The Janitor" or something. As opposed to inmate gang member 3. I'm assuming Michael drove after the truckstop incident, but I can't be sure. His feet were gnarley. Tyler Mane is spooky as all hell. Even young Michael is creepy.

The Pwime

Young Michael wearing The Shape mask = Frank from Donnie Darko.

he just stands there at the end of the hallways in the EXACT same manner.  And the oversized mask with no visible eyes on a little kid...spooky.

QuoteI'd personally love to see Rob Zombie take on a few more classic monster villians to see what he can do with them.

I'd rather see him continue to do his own thing rather than contribute to the endless stream of Hollywood remakes. (This applies to all filmmakers, not just him) -- He had expressed interest in doing a romantic comedy. Even as a total failure, THAT would be 100% more interesting to me than seeing him redo some old monster in his psuedo grindhouse style...

Interesting Trivia that i remembered for no real reason....
The Shape mask = William Shatner

From IMDB:
Due to its shoestring budget, the prop department had to use the cheapest mask that they could find in the costume store: a Captain Kirk (William Shatner) mask. They later spray-painted the face white, teased out the hair, and reshaped the eye holes.

The Pwime

i heard about that too.  who knew that a little bit of white paint and no facial hair could be so damn creepy?  :P

(no one else sees the Young Michael/Frank The Bunny similarities, though?)
