Evil Alien overlord

Hey folks

I am attempting to create an evil alien overlord mesh/skin.  I wanted to base the design on a combination of the Armor of Onslaught, the size of Darkseid, and who brawls like Mongul. 

I was coming here to ask where would be a good place to start.  What mesh, keys etc?

Also I need some advice on how to design the base aliens of this Empire.  I want to have them similar to the Roman Empire.  If any one saw the Xenomorph creatures I nifskoped  these creatures are designed to be the WMD's of the space Empire? Any advice tips or help would be appreciated?
