Ironic as it may be, given that I'm the one who offered to help the last time this was asked, I'm way out of my depth here.

Basically, I want to hex the "Head" and "Head top" pieces from my Tomato mesh on to a male_basic ish head.nif, and am currently testing that with tommyboy's mesh. However, when I try to load it up in FFvtTR(by substituting it with the alchemiss head.nif just for an easy fix), the game crashes. No error message, it just dies.

Now, I was attempting to help someone else with a similar problem (which I have never been able to do  :banghead:) waaay back when, and I couldn't check it because I didn't have ff.

Does anyone here know how to sucessfully move pieces to a head.nif, or know enough about them to tell me how they work to begin with?

Worst case, I've already asked tommyboy if it would be ok for him to send me a copy of the max, but if I can figure out how to get it to work with nifskope I'd prefer that.

Bear in mind that Heads differ from "ordinary" meshes in several ways.
1. No skeleton, no Bips, no physiquing, no links to bones in a head.nif. All the animation is done via morphing one head into a number of "morphing channels" (other heads where vertexes have been moved to give the other expressions), which is completely unlike normal mesh animation.
2. FF heads will NOT work in FFV3R, ever. Theres a greater number of the aforementioned "morphing channels" in FFV3R. So if you are mixing and matching FF and FFV3R stuff, problems ahoy, probably.
3. Because you cant link/physique to a convenient head_bip01 or similar, extra bits like hats/hair/glasses etc are harder to position via nifSkope, and even if you DO manage to position them, the head "wobbles" around during talking which makes extra bits look weird, as they are stationary.
4. I've nifskoped bits from one of my working FFV3R heads to another of my working FFV3R heads and ended up with a head that doesnt work in game, and I know others have had similar problems.
5. If it's something thats going to waste hours and hours of your time, and given point 4, maybe I should just email you the Max file for my head.nif, because thats a LOT easier to work with.
