Has anyone skinned the Ultimate Federalist Freedom Fighters (UFFF) from What If? #1 (Vol 4)?  If not, any takers???

Basically an alternate "what If" universe the Russians had established their own version of the FF back in the 60's.

How the heck would you simulate this reed richards power in FF?

An excellent question.  I wish I had an excellent answer.

My best guess is that it'd require a totally new mesh concept.  For a one shot character - I know - not bloody likely.   I'd still be interested in the skins.

If I had the Richards skin today for FF, I'd probably cop out and put it on the plastic man mesh and call it a day.

doctorchallenger

If the mesh was alpha enabled, and the skin had narrow band of texture alpha'd out, would these gaps get bigger when the plastic man mesh stretches?  That might be a way of approximating it.

UnkoMan

Actually, it wouldn't just be a oneshot character. It could also be used for Mr. Jigsaw, a modern webcomic version of the old Harvey character.

Threw these together before I went to sleep. If you like what I have so far? I'll finish and do the other 2 members.

Thank you!!

Very interesting!  I know this is crossing subject barriers (and might belong more appropriately in "comics") but has this book come out yet?

I've always loved the "What If" series.  I think it really frees writers (and possibly the pencilers and inkers as well) to explore new ideas and visions (albeit temporarily).

I do very much like this new spin on the FF.  I think we're far enough away from the cold war now that this is almost like a homage' to the cold war era comics.  Will Reed Richard's speak with a thick Russian accent?

I read the second article listed and it was kind of vague as to the characters and powers of those supers included.  I very well may have missed some things, Reed Richards:  Good discussion on Richards...on how his powers might work.  I very much like how he won't be a "stretcho" in this book.  Nice change of pace.  But how about how the other characters might be done???:

Blond female:  Soooooooo, is she Sue Richards?  And how are her powers different?  I'm guessing that, in keeping with variant powers theme, they won't be the same as the classic FF Invisible Girl (i.e. invisibility, force field, etc.).  Any ideas?

Collossus:  Perhaps a little cheesy throwing Petey in just b/c he's Russian.  But that's forgivable.  Buuuuuuut, in that they seem to be staying with the "cosmic rays" catalyzing the team's powers theme, is Collossus not a mutant in this book.  Or perhaps it was just the event that caused them to manifest fully?  It would have been nice if his powers were different than being the metal clad brick that we know.  Any way, being that it seems that his powers are the same, probably a new skin for any of the existing Collussus meshes would work fine.

Blue flaming female:  Ok, this one's a mystery.  Any thought as to her powers?  Are they flame based or just some form of energy.  In fact, might she be energy based (insubstantial)?  I guess the powers need to be defined before meshes and skins can follow?

The Thing?:  He's in one of the pictures, but in another he doesn't seem to be there.  Same powers?  Odd.  Any way, I'm guessing not difficult to translate over from existing meshes (just a slight change in existing skins?).

Well, I for one would love to see this come to life in  :ff:.  But then again, that's easy for me to say... just my spare change.

Your further thoughts?

The appearance of the UFFF was in the mini-series of What If? that came out December 2005. It features a story where 4 young Cosmonauts are sent on an orbit space mission and exposed to the infamous cosmic rays before crash landing back on Earth.
Piotr Rusputin - Becomes a man made of living steel but loses more of his mind the stronger he becomes.
Ilyana Rusputin - Her body has magicial camouflauge which can even make people forget she is there.
Mr. Fantastic - Rudion Richards - Can displace his body using ruptures in space to extend his reach.
Widow Maker - Major Romanoff - Can transform her body into electro-magnetic energy.

Ohhhhhhh, so it's been a while in being out then.  Ok.  That explains a lot.  Thanks for the low down, Crimson!

Never fear the mustache will be there in the final skin.

I always wondered why hair transmuted to armor-like plating when a character like Colossus morphed into their armored form.

I guess Piotr has to make sure his hair never grows anywhere near his eyes or ears ...

Well I know it has been olmost 3 months. But figured I'd put up a pic of the skins I did for this request and am going to upload them today to a Yahoo group. Magik is on the invisible_woman mesh, Colosus is a hex of Colosus_classic, Reed is a male_basic, and Widow is on a Magma_hex. Incidently she is all afire. But couldn't see it very well in character tool. I'll drop a message when they are uploaded.

kssaints

Well the UFFF members are uploaded to my 9th Yahoo group http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/saintsandskinners09 Hope you all like them

The weird dislocating mesh for this version of Reed could also be used for the 1960s robot Captain Marvel...

You have been warned!

Is that a new hex you did, or is it a standard?  Either way, where can I find it?  I could never find the right one for the Frankie Raye skin (that I think was done by Matrix).

Yeah, I'd like to know too.

kssaints

It's the one done by Matrix.  I could probably whip up something different if you guys wanted something spacific.

Klauser

And there they are!!!!

I was the original requester for these skins and I love 'em!!

Great job, kssaints, and thanks for taking your time to do em right!!

Okay, there were TWO other "flaming" female meshes (besides Firestar and female bald effects torch)?

These are the only two I have, but a Frankie Raye mesh might be what I'm looking for for two characters I'd like to do, one named Stardust (sparkling force field), the other Eclipse (half matter, half anti-matter; long story, involves string theory).

I have to admit I haven't read X-Men in years (decades?), an unfamiliar with Magma.

Anyway, I'd like to kow where BOTH meshes are (yes I'm greedy).

I knew I should have kept up with this group while I was waiting for a computer that would run Feedom Force.

hmmmm....when I d/l'd it, all I got was the skin, no mesh included.  Is it up at NPI?  I never *have* found where HQ moved all of the mainstream skins & meshes that everybody had there (even a lot of the FR specific skins/meshes that Paradox did.....including mine).

There's also a female_amazon_FX, just like the male_basic_FX, and a Nova269 (with just the hair as flames....what Frankie looked like after the ol' "Herald of Galactus" treatment).

Magma was one of the original New Mutants, along with Sunspot, Canonnball, Karma, et. al., so you might be familiar with her.

daglob

Thanks. I'll see if I can find them.
