I don't know if this has been posted somewhere (I did a search and came up with nothing).

Arnold Drake has passed away due to Pneumoina and septic shock.  He was an immensly talented comic-writer who created the Doom Patrol (my favorite DC characters), Deadman, Stanley and His Monster(all created in the sixties)... He wrote DC stories for the adventures of Bob Hope and Jerry Lewis series and also worked on very nearly every other DC character.  He eventually led a revolt of sorts to try and get writers and artists healthcare and better pay, but this led to him and many others being fired from DC.  He then went to Gold Key comics for a bit, writing for The Twilight Zone, Star Trek and Little Lulu.  He went on to write for Marvel (working briefly on the X-Men and later I believe, created the Guardians of the Galaxy). He had also been a writer for films.

Another great talent gone...R.I.P, Mr. Drake.

I sure hope that Mr. Drake found some peace in his life.   I met him in the late 70s, as he was a friend of the woman I was seeing at the time.  Naturally, I was very excited to meet someone who worked in comics.  But at that time, comic creators didn't get the kind of appreciation that was due them, and for some there was a kind of self-loathing regarding what they did for a living.  They weren't paid very well back then.

Hopefully in the 20+ years that passed (until he passed), he felt better about what he had accomplished.
