Hey. I just installed  :ffvstr: since I got a laptop and I noticed that when I start the game, everything looks like this:

There are no words and the game seems to appear much smaller then the screen.
I have everything installed (character tool, FFedit, EZFX, FFX 3.2)

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Does any of the other in-game text show up?  I'd be inclined to say that either the font didn't install, or just isn't working properly.  Did it work properly before installing everything else?

try going to the options tab, do you remeber where it is? I think it's 3rd one up, and changing the res that might do something.

But yeah, I agree with  panther. It look's like the font is broken.

Might not be. I have this exact same problem whenever I try to install the game on my computer, which is five years old, has 160 MB of RAM, and runs XP. But when I tried installing it on another computer (a more up-to-date PC), it ran perfectly. I assumed it was because that PC had better video cards/more memory.

Howdy. I'm having the same "no text" problem as the original poster. And thats when I can get the game to start. Most of the time I get an error message that reads "alert:CFont::init(), could not create ID3DX Font". Google searches have turned up nothing helpfull. Anyone here have any clues?

You might try replacing the font file you're supposed to use of FFVTTR with another and see if that works.
The font file is found here:
C:\Program Files\Irrational Games\FFVTTR\Data\art\library\interface_elements
called zapray2, try renaming it (so you don't wipe over it completely) and replacing it with another font (say times new roman) but then change times new roman's name to zapray2 so the game engine finds it.

See if that fixes your problem

BatWing

you can change fonts?
thats crazy
that a useful information to me

I always guessed it could be done (ever since finding the font file) but I've never had reason to do it. Conduit's mod is the conformation I needed.

It has got me thinking though...
