I was wondering if anyone has a Quasar mesh did by Vertex?
The skin was done by Matrix.

Vertex

Yeah, guys..

I made this a while ... while back and I think I released it through my old ev1 webspace site... I lost all files in a crash a long time ago and would really like to get this mesh back from the grave. Anyhow if anybody out there has vxQuasar please let me know.

daglob

I have a VX Quasar with  skin by Matrix, and wouldn't mind sending it to y'all (although it would probably have to wait until tomorrow).

But...

I must have picked it up in the past year/year-and-a-half, so it has to be out there SOMEWHERE...

If no one else chimes in wih more information, PM me some addresses, and I'll send him right out.

Now I have to find tht FF1 version...

Vertex

Nevermind on the search for vxQuasar in the quest to find him I got access to NPI and even though there was no ref pic and link to download him.. he's been sitting waiting to be downloaded the whole time. So once NPI gets set back up for the new year.. vxQuasar will proudly be presented as he was always meant to be!

Hey Vertex, I noticed you asking about feedback about your meshes in another thread and I guess this is as good a thread as any give you my opinions.

First of all...I'm not sure why you think your meshes aren't popular, perhaps because they haven't been skinned that often, but IMO, that really has nothing to do with their popularity except as skinning meshes, it's got nothing to do with in game usage at all. And you know, there have been quite a few done with them since you left. C6 did some freaking awesome Legion skins using quite a few of your meshes. They are up at Renegade's site and I encourage you to check them out if you haven't yet.  Your meshes and KennX hexes were what lead to me finding out about this wonderful live action comic book of a game.

I'd be surprised if you've ever received any negative feedback at all on your speedster meshes as those guys are pretty much perfect. I never use anything but the Vx speedsters in game(except for maybe the Kingdom Come Flash or Jay Garrick)...and I'd be surprised if that weren't true for the majority of the FF community as well. In particular the superspeed melee animations...those are just plucked right out of the comic, and they're among the best animations ever created for this game. Ditto some of the Kryptonian animations...Extremely intuitive and just like the comics.

That said you want feedback so I will give you some...

1. A few of the basic vx male meshes have a sort of concave look to the face that in a way prevents them from looking like the characters they are supposed to look like. I don't know if it's because of something you had to do to get the mouths to move...but I've noticed it on a few of your meshes. Some skinners are able to work around it to a large degree, like C6 or the thread starter himself, Avalon, and I did notice you kind of altered the face when you released your last Superman mesh...but anyway, just an observation.

2. Those superspeed animations...those are probably my favorite things about the speedster meshes. The speed punch and kick etc. But the cost in FFVTTR is astronomical even at the lowest powered level. I think it costs like 15k points just to add the lowest powered punch....that makes those awesome animations just about unusable in FFVTTR for anything outside of Danger Room battles.  If you could somehow keep the animation the same while reducing the number of actual hits registering on the software in the game...that would be awesome.

3. Weapons. A lot of your meshes have some really nice gun animations..but there are no guns or knives. Maybe it's something that can be hexed or something...but it does seem to be something missing on some of them. The Havok AOA mesh has that cool knife on the boot(and hip IIRC) but near as I can tell he doesn't use them. It's kind of frustrating actually as you really want to see him pull that knife out and throw it at someone....or at least give someone a good stabbing

Mr Mind

Oh yeah...Female meshes. Your female meshes are pretty nice, particularly the body modeling and walking animations, especially when a talented skinner has really gone after them...but it would be awesome if you could add a female with a cape to them...perhaps even a skirt or long hair.

Side note: I notice that a long haired female with a cape and skirt and Kryptonian type animations is pretty much the last unconquered realm in this game as far as basic meshes go...I can only assume it must a be a real pain in the butt to pull off since you guys have created some extremely elaborate meshes that would seem to be far more complex to create than a Supergirl type mesh...yet no one has ever really hit a total grandslam on that particular type of mesh.

We've got stuff like an amazing Mr. Fantastic Mesh, a shrinking Atom...ArchAngel ...motorcycles....even a guitar playing cowboy...but this one seems to have never really been pulled off totally by anyone yet.

Seems like every mesher has done an aspect of it, but none have ever really put the entire package together..it always seems the hair doesn't work or isn't long enough, or the cape doesn't work, or the skirt doesn't work, or the body doesn't seem quite right...or else the animations only work with the simplest of animations. I notice you are a Legion fan like myself(and from the same era I have a hunch)...I personally would love to see one of you guys create a true SA or 70's Supergirl mesh with longhair, skirt, cape...and full Kryptonian animations.

Anyway, I know you asked for feedback and not requests so please excuse my last tangent...I hope some of what I told you will be of help in the future....probably the thing I would most like is to be able to use those superspeed animations in an actual in game campaign.

I say this in all honesty..some of your meshes, like ArchAngel, the Flahses, the most recent Dr. Fate and Superman Meshes..Moebius...you may not be getting much feedback on them or see many skins being done to them, but they are absolutely brilliant meshes and there's really not anything to criticize about them. They get used by me and often... I say that with all sincerity.

I just want to point out that it is possible to use his speedster's speed based, multi-hitting attacks in a campaign at a low cost as I have done it several times without even breaking the 20k mark. Also, I'm fairly sure he didn't mention anything about his meshes "not" being popular in the thread in question.

with that said...um...*looks at topic header*...um...what to add...what to add...YAY, a new vertex mesh will be out soon! Wait...a new old mesh will be out soon! YAY! *disappears*

Vertex

Mr. Mind I never meant to imply I was unhappy with negative feedback... I hope you re-read that other thread and see that I welcome ANY negative feedback as long as it's not just hurtful jabs to provoke.

BTW to get back on topic....

This is what vxQuasar looks like (which is why I was distressed when I realized I was missing it)

I've built up to it a couple of times, but it's definitely got an end of campaign cost, when really for a speedster, that should be his basic attack and one of the first ones you can get with him. Guy is fast...he can punch people a bunch in a short period of time...under the current structure of FFVTTR, that is I think the most expensive attack in the game to get at the weakest level...

Granted, you can see why it is expensive because it totally knocks the spit out of a good many powerful characters even at the lowest level...if that animation could be adjusted to still look as powerful without being quite as powerful it would add a lot to speedster game play in FFVTTR IMO, and you could use it much more early in campaigns. I love the animations don't get me wrong and I do know you can use the exp cheat to get it early, but I'm just of the mind that it should be the most basic speedster melee attack instead of the holy grail of speedster attacks which it is under the current combat rules of FVTTR...JMO.

Vertex

I shoulda stated this in the last post.. your request and point is MOOT

I had a total computer crash in the past.. I don't have any of the keyframe sets I used to.....
so for me to alter that set.. is impossible. Your best bet is to either alter it in nifskope (I assume it can) or have someone skope or hex it for you.
I literally don't have a max file for a single character mesh I ever made... all gone. all lost. buh bye.

Not at all sir...I got the distinct impression that you felt you didn't get enough feedback...hence me taking this opportunity to do so.

Can't wait to see it released...

And sorry for the threadjack I saw the post by you wishing you got more feedback and was looking for an appropriate place to do so and this seemed like the best available place. Welcome back and I look forward to any new releases from you.

Aw man Vertex, thats so sad  :(

On the plus side that Quasar mesh looks great. I always wanted that.

Any luck using the importer to recover keys from your old meshes?

daglob

A VX_Female_Skirt_Cape mesh would be nice... I still have a couple of Super-Lois' to do, and I can't convert the scoped mesh from FF1 to FFv3R, and i can't play FF1 on my computer (or FFv3R. I have the Fastheap thingy)

umm way beyond my knowledge of skope or hexing.. if there's a way to get keys out of a mesh.. then somebody else would have to show me or just pass them to me. I can't even get nifskope to import the keys to play with a mesh
