It was ok in Dark Knight because Maggie's a better actress, but that's a rarity.

She sure didn't show in "Dark knight" then. She was very jarringly a smaller less well played  character for me. Enough that she will be a downside for me in any movies she's in. Funny because I really have never liked Katie Holmes in anything else but Nolan really got something out of her in 'Batman Returns" for me.

You're kidding me!  She had about as much emotional intensity as a cardboard box.  She's a horrible actress, and she was, bar-none, the worst thing about Begins...ughh....when she is in the car with Bruce, giving her little speech about the 'good people,' it's like she's ordering from McDonald's.  In Maggie G.'s defense, she was saddled with a character that was useless, and the audience was inclined to dislike from the first film.  I thought she did a decent job, given what little she had to work with.

sonobolististic.
Is that even a word?

I misspelled it its somnambulistic. It basically means seeming like you're sleepwalking.

to me, there was only one good thing about Holmes in Begins: they finally put the nipples on the right person. :P

I got too much love for Cheadle to be upset about this...and to e honest I didn't really feel the friendship connection between Howard and Downey Jr. in the IM1.

Wow!  Howard was the highest paid actor in the first IM1!!!  If that contract included a piece of the back end then he's sittin' pretty sequel or no.  Might as well "spread the wealth around" and give Cheadle a piece of that IM pie.

I'm glad they're not casting Will Smith as Rhodes...haha!

Howard has a great rep as being an easy to work with actor. He's an actor's actor.  Sounds like more of an issue that Favreau had rather than Howard...  esp considering half his scenes ended up on the editing room floor.

So simple put it was ultimately about the money. They paid Howard well for the first movie considering he had a large role in the script and he is one of the hottest black actors out there.  but after his scenes were cut from the movie... they didn't want to pay him the money they initially talked about (which Howard eluded too) if Favreau was going to reduce his role even more.  Which again sucks because most people I've talked too enjoyed his role and wanted to see more of him in the sequel.

Ehhh... still not happy about it.  Its decisions like these which can ruin sequels.

There would have to be far more wrong with Iron Man II than Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard for it to be ruined.
