This is my second thread, sorry if its in the wrong place!
-------------------------------------------------------------
Me and my Friend REALLY want to play this game online on the Original (:ff:) game and we weren't sure if this is even possible to script.

We are aware this would mean ALOT of work getting cutscenes/level transitions to work. (or just remove them and do it manually)

Also if this has already been made (which I highly doubt) could I have a link please?

I don't think this is possible. There are/were ff1 mods (more accurately, "missions"/"maps") in the past that were online compatible (they didn't work too great from what I can remember and were largely simplistic), but to make the campaign fully compatible online would require a lot more work than changing cutscenes and such.

Thanks for the quick reply, I know it would mean a hell of a lot of work but they made a :ff: Campaign mod for :ffvstr: didn't they so surely somebody could attempt to do something similar but with Multiplayer?

Major difference between transferring something that mostly works in the new game and testing/building something for the old game to support: online cutscenes (because online mode doesnt support cutscenes as far as I know), online squad selection, online spawning/script functionality (since multiplayer has a different code setup and accepts different commands to keep track of points, etc.), disable the Vs. atmosphere (though Alex PARTLY did this with his tool to the best of his ability [within the game design]), the prestige system, saving...

Basically, that'd be a whole new vs. engine, me thinks. Perhaps stumpy will offer something different, but I just don't see it happening.

Unfortunately, I've never played online and I am not familiar with the scripting for it, aside from a couple hooks used in FFX. I didn't even know an online campaign mod for FFvT3R had been made. What's the name of the mod?

It's not online, just allows you to play normal :ff: on :ffvstr:.

I was just saying somebody else has managed to mimic the Campaign from :ff: and put it on :ffvstr: and therefore couldn't someone try again but make it online and for the Original :ff:?

there's no online mod for ffvttr, as far as I know, beyond the simplistic "story mode" in FFVTTR. FF1 had a few mission based maps that were co-op or some such (hazy memory) and I don't remember them ever working correctly for me when I tried them with others all those years ago. The FF1 assets and story were transferred to FFVTTR a few months ago (Alex/Tommyboy/goggles), but that's not online compatible.

Just to clarify more, the multiplayer "mods" on ff1 were basically just rumble room-esque scripts that kept respawning enemies, which, as you can imagine, could cause a bit of lag and crash games. It was more of a test thing that was eventually, if memory serves, taken off of freedom mods all together and slightly revamped as single player missions.

The only things that come to mind as online compatible are early versions of FFX, alex's rumble room tool which allowed a form of co-op, and Mike's tag team addon.

edited: Ultimately, the transfer didn't require fooling with the actual game engine like this would, as it seems to me.

You can't mod in the same way in multiplayer mode. Because to avoid cheating loads of hooks are turned off. That's why FFX doesn't work

In short, it's impossible, sorry :(
