Not too familiar with Dr. Strange, but from what little I've been exposed to him, I can't say I care for the character. I saw him in the Spider-Man 90's cartoon show, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and trailers for his exclusive direct-to-dvd animated movie, and I just don't think he's my cup of tea superhero.

Still, Del Toro seems like a decent choice I think and maybe he can make me like the character, lol.

what do you guys think?

Holy crap, Dr. Strange by Neil Gaiman?  HECK YES.

Del Toro for Dr. Strange? The only way that could be more awesome is... No. It cannot be more awesome.

It would be more awesome if he used the costume....or, at least enough elements from it to make it recognizable (cape, eye, gloves, perhaps a sash).

Where do I know this quote from? Is is MST3K or Venture Bros.?

like I said, I really don't know much about the character, so my judgment of him is only based on what little I've seen him in, which isn't enough to be fair. It's just that from what little I've seen him, I have yet to be impressed or become interested.

a movie about him with a good writer and director could alter my perception easily though.

By the hoary hosts of Hoggoth, Del Toro is a brilliant choice!

Wow ... that sounds like a dream team for Dr Strange.

I agree... for those who dont know Dr Strange combines magic, psychedelia, monsters and a campy troubled hero. If they take it seriosly it would rule but if they play it for laughts it might still be cool.

Yeah, Dr. Strange is one of those properties that I wouldn't mind being revisited with a touch of camp, although an updated serious treatment would be up my alley as well... my old roommate had a collection of the early Strange Tales comics and I'd read them wondering where Steve Ditko got the wonderful wonderful drugs that allowed him to come up with those awesome mystic landscapes  ... All kidding aside, there just wasn't much in the way of popular psychedelic art reference at the time (Dr. Strange preceded the mainstream psychedelica movement in pop art by a good couple of years), and Ditko virtually wrote the visual lexicon for many of the "effects" and conventions we now take for granted as part of the shorthand artists use to suggest anything "mystical" in origin in the visual medium.

Icky Thump is actually newer. I thought I heard an even newer TWS song on the radio but it turned out a cat had jumped into my engine.
