Yeah, I got my new computer, reinstalled COX but the updates won't download. Is it possibly because my account is currently inactive?

Shouldn't be an issue, since the installer does the updated prior to your logging in...

thats what i thought. so there is some other reason that its not updating, it just sits on 0%.
its really frustrating since i got my new PC and i want to play (i'll be working all week, but still, i'd like to have a run around and see the game like its meant to be played)
edit: thanks for the reply G'day

Is it being blocked by one of those life-controlling, evil-dictator programs you get?

I don't have a firewall running, the servers are up according to the COH site, yet everytime I log in I get this message.
I've verified files time and again, it took me all day to download the updates and now I still can't play.
Lil help?
Thanks

Verfall

Found this in a thread about issues with Vista:

CONNECTION ISSUES -Courtesy of Zloth

Symptom: CohUpdater starts up fine but the browser window in the top half is unable to get the web pages. Updater constantly tries to connect but never can.

Solution: Download the updater again. Copy it over your current updater.

Symptom: Game starts up but, when you try to log in, it says that the login server is not available. Other people are logging in fine. Adding City of Heroes exe to the firewall list doesn't help the problem.

Solution: Delete the City of Heroes exe. The Updater will download it again. It should work fine once you get the new one.

So basically, go to where you have coh installed, delete the CityofHeroes.exe, than double-click on the file marked "CohUpdater.exe".

Thanks for the help Verfall, I took your advice, but no luck. I just don't get it, the only thing that has changed is the computer itself, its the same connection, same ISP, same account. I bought the good vs evil edition for a friend of mine for Christmas and was able to log into my account on his computer just fine yesterday.
We even copied the game files onto his wife's computer so i could log on and play alongside him and it worked fine. It seems to be a problem on my end, with my computer...and I'm out of ideas.

It just decided to work. I'd say your steps were the real help, thanks again, Verfall.
