I know I've been kinda quiet lately and I'm sorry for dropping off the face of the planet for the last few weeks.

My mother called to let me know that her father was going to die soon.  He lives in Oregon, and unforunately due to a number of factors, I was unable to go to be with the rest of the family.  My mother was, however, and in return, I agreed to take on a few of her responsibilities while she was out of town since we live in the same city.

My grandfather has had a long and good life and sadly we've been expecting this for a while I guess.  There was a false alarm a few months back, but this one was for real.  The funeral is set for today.  I'm still feeling down about it, especially not being there, and I guess that's made me feel not as talkative as usual and have more of a tendancy to bury myself in work and projects to keep my mind elsewhere.

Anyway, I'm, trying to get back into my normal routines and so on.  Basically I just wanted to touch base with everyone and explay why I haven't been posting much.

Sorry to hear about your grandfather, GG. Even when you know it's coming, it's seldom easy.

I'm sure your mom is grateful you could help her out. It's a huge comfort to know someone is taking care of things so that she can do what she is doing without worrying about other things in her life unraveling.


BTW, with 9000+ posts, you've earned a break when you need it. We'll still be here when you are back to your normal, dizzying pace.  :)

GG real life comes first, put this place outta your mind and concentrate on yourself and your family. i wish you all the best and i'm sure you'll pull through this tough time

Sorry to hear about your grandfather- regardless of how expected it was, or how good his life was, I'm sure you and your family miss him. It must have been very difficult not being able to be there.

I hope the holidays aren't too grim for you, the first one after a bereavement can be tough (I know because my Dad passed away three months ago, and I remember what it was like when my Mum died  just before Christmas many years back).

My condolences Glitchie.  My grandfather has had a few scares and false alarms himself over the past year or so and the fact that he's had a good innings doesn't necessarily make things easier. 

And you've absolutely no need to apologise for having your priorities straight.  We'll still be here no matter how long you take a break for; although having said that it is good to have you back.
