So, I was randomly surfing the net today and came upon this site with some pics of the new Speed Racer movie. While I can honestly say I've never been a speed racer fan, I can't deny that this movie looks...interesting.

Some of those visuals are trippy as hell..

When I first heard about the project I was skeptical at best but after seeing the trailer I have hope for it. Not a big Speed Racer fan but it looks like it might actually be good.

I am not a speed racer fan, and the trailer did nothing to change my mind.
Something about it looks more like a cut-scene from a Need for Speed game...

Though John Goodman as Dad...Awesome!

I used to like Speed Racer as a kid, but even back then I knew everything about the show was ridiculous, but it still entertained me (and I LOVE Family Guy's spoof of it, lol).

But this movie...I don't know. Interesting is about the best word to describe it. I guess I can say the trailer looked even more ridiculous than the show, but at the very least the movie looks like it's pretty damn faithful to its source material. I also think it has a stellar cast, except maybe Susan Sarandon...She's a good actress but what's she doing in a movie like this?

No one's linked to the trailer yet?

There is a version on Youtube, but you can't see anything on it, due to the unusual anime-inspired visual style.

I am intrigued.  It looks like it could be interesting.  In spite of the odd style, it looks like it has what could be a decent story about a talented racer that could make for a decent movie.  We'll see, I guess.

I don't think it actually looks too bad, myself. This is one of those few instances where I think an anime/cartoon/comic could not only work successfully with a Hollywood influence, but maybe even benefit from it.
