New group(s) for I11?

With the pending advent of I11, I imagine more than a few folks will want to play with the new powersets for tankers and scrappers, customize weapons, etc.

Might not be a bad time to spin up some new theme teams after the launch and after folks get a feel for the changes?  (And the high-level folks have a chance to try out the high-level content...)

Be nice to start fresh with a group.

Camma

There has been some noise off and on.  I think BAD had some idea about monster hunters or something.  There was also an idea about a themeless themed SG.

So.....yeah....

Verfall

There's also the Toys on Champion.

I came up with an idea for a "clone your friends" SG where everyone picks someone else and makes a homage to their toon, i.e. Atomic Saint = Radiated Angel. I hadn't actually pitched it till now, so there ya go, heh.

DMenacer

Me and a friend started a SG called F.E.D.S. (Federal Enforcer Department of SuperHeroes) on Freedom. Its still a small group in need of new members and its only requirement is that one of your costumes be a dress suit (it does not have to be your first one).

BlueBard

That's funny... I was toying with the idea of a Villain group comprised of evil lawyers.  Wearing suits, of course.

What about a panda in a suit coat? :)

Thats not a problem since it would be hard for a Panda to zip up his pants once he did get them on since he has paws instead of hands.

Hrm....

Ironstreak = Quicksteel

Ms. Knockout = Mr. Knockup  :P

Funeral Pyre= Birthfire

What about a time-travel-based SG and/or VG?

The theme could be chronological castaways, heroes from other times pulled into the present day from the past and the future.

Cavemen, knights, samurai, wizards, WWII Commandos, Viking warriors, hyperevolved humans and animals, advanced AI's/androids from the future, etc.

Could call them Time Drifters, or some such.  The only hard requirement would be that the character's backstory must involve time travel or alternate timelines in some way and that members are encouraged to work toward being able to do Ouroboros missions.

It would probably be best if a higher-level character were to head that up.  That person would be most able to acquire the power to open a portal to ouroboros and thus open it for other members of the group so they could open portals too.  (assuming it works the way I understand it will work...)

catastrophe

Id like to join that SG :)

how about Heroes of Time?

Valandar

That would be a decent one for Sir Orin Proper, a knightly armored dragon-man I got...

Uncle Yuan

Really, just about any of mine could be tweaked to fit in such a group - cool idea BB.

Viking

That really is a cool idea, BB.  On which server would this hypothetical group be created?

AncientSpirit

What Child of Vulcan qualify?  He's based on Spock, and Spock was always getting caught up in temporal rifts.

And a tweak on Heroes Of Time --- what about Heroes In Time ... (not only are they in time to save the day, but the acronym would be H.I.T. as in "H.I.T. Squad."

Well, folks here have generally filled up their available slots on Freedom, so I won't suggest that.  Infinity would be perfect, name-wise.  Any objections, suggestions?

More importantly, is there an existing character on Infinity that is high enough level to experience the Ouroboros content and who could head up the group?  Or do we start from scratch?

I don't much care for the name Heroes Of/In Time.  I like some variation on the castaways/drifters theme.  Time Drifters, Drifters, Adrift, Castaways, Rift Warriors, Wanderers, etc.  Depends on what names are available, I suppose.  Open to suggestions there, too.

If you can work the temporal rift idea into his background, he's fair game.  Trouble is, we need to decide on what server this SG will reside.

Infinity is a nice server name for a time-travel-based SG.  But Virtue might be okay for the RP angle.  I have at least one toon on Virtue that can be retconned into this, maybe more.  Ditto for Guardian.  But if we're starting characters from scratch, then it doesn't much matter.

Thunder

I;d  be up for that SG.....What time on Wednesday should we meet?  I have a great idea for a dual blade wielding Space adventurer :  Jaden Stargrave

BlueBard

Have started a new thread for the Time-Travel Based SG idea for further discussion:

Unfortunately, it is extremely unlikely I will be on Wednesday night unless it's really late.

Personally, I'm going to stay away from new themed groups for now- the time travel group is a good idea, but I think it's about time for a new themeless group. See here.

Theme groups tend to die quickly.

Ah, but in this case the theme isn't so darned narrow that it's totally exclusive.  The 'time-travel background' is easily satisfied, and it provides a logical home for characters with a more historical or futuristic bent.

If anything kills it, it will be lack of interest and participation.  If that's the way it goes, so be it.  No big deal.

Not that it really matters.  I can run characters in both themed and unthemed SG's.  And probably will.

Kommando

I'll prolly log in to check this out.  I need a break from my island anyhow.

Tend to. :P I avoid them now because I make a toon and forget about him/her almsot immediately because the concept is forced.

BWPS

I have an 11 Tanker on Infinity. His name is Mister Awesome, and his story from what I've barely mapped out in my head does involve time travel. He's kinda futury-looking. I know that's not a high enough level to do whatever you said about portals, but I'd be willing to join.

Dweomer Knight

Just an FYI:  Some of you may remember the very brief and long defunct SG on Virtue SuperHyperMechaUltraTeamForceGo! which was a mecha-anime theme (in case you weren't capable of deducing that from the name). Well, I don't play on Virtue much at all but I happened to log into that server the other day and realized that the toon I made for that group, Wave Motion, is now in charge of the SG (or just himself as he's the only toon currently on the roster).

Any SG-less toons on Virtue that want to be in a SG are free to join; no theme required.  However, as I'm not normally on Virtue you'll have to send me a global tell.  @Dweomer Knight (or let me know here and we can arange a time).

SuperHyperCallaFragellisticWhat?

Dweomer Knight

Yeah, the name's a handful though I always thought it was pretty funny.  I can't even remember who created it.  Now, this was a long time ago, before CoV was even publically pushed as a concept.

There are no requirements for the group (other than not being a jerk) and it's basically open to anyone who wants in.  Now, if the original founder wants the group back (whoever it was), it's yours.  If that's the case, you'll have to follow whatever rules they set.
