The Mist trailer

Anyone else looking forward to this? I generally find fright flicks to be a mixed bag, but I like it when a good one shows up. I think Stephen King's stuff translates pretty well to the big screen and I am really excited that Frank Darabont (c.f. The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile) is directing again.

ooh this looks good.  love king's books translated to film, and a good community tears itself apart message.  cool, thanks for the tip.

I've been anxiously waiting for the trailer.. so, It's great to see Frank Darabont translating another of King's stories faithfully to the big screen. For those into King Trivia - This movie has been in the works for 5 years now because while Darabont had the perfect script he wanted to produce/direct this film himself without any big studio sticking their noses into his editing/screening room so he gathered the entire budget all on his own. Once he started casting and filming all of the peices fell into place including many actors who were waiting for the chance to be in this film. There was also a big confusion a few years back when the remake for John Carpenter's The Fog was in production under an alias name and a rumor sent hundreds of King fans to one of the filming sites and were horribly disappointed.

The Mist is one of my favourite King novellas... cautiously optimistic about this one. Never been a huge fan of film translations of his writing, though, it always seems like the on-screen stuff just pales in comparison to the imagery that King's best writing can evoke in the reader's imagination.

I really liked The Mist novella, and the trailer looks promising but ... is it just me, or are a few characters miscast (like the annoying lawyer neighbour, and the crazy religious lady)?

For some reason, I'm looking forward to Eli Roth's take on The Cell. I hated the book, but I think Roth can do something interesting with it.
