I just saw some cool classic windows 95 pc games at the store the other day. Just wondering if they are still compatible using windows xp.
Can they still run properly using the compatibility feature in the properties menu for applications?  :(  Or is it simply impossible.

I still run some classic Windows 3.1 games, as well as Windows 95 and Windows 98 games on my XP rig.  Changing the compatability mode to Win 95 will problably work - it has for me in alot of cases.  In some cases you may have to change how the game starts (Warlords 3 comes right to mind).

I have heard from some friends there are some older Windows games they can't get to run on XP.  I haven't run into that problem yet - several games have caused problems, but an internet search usually turns up workarounds or unofficial patches.

I believe you can also get a tool that will allow you to run games from windows 3.1 and win95 operating environments.  I used it when I downloaded an old game I used to have but didn't have the disks anymore.  I wish I could rememberthe site, but I'm coming up blank.

Thanks for the info Klauser. :) Change how the game starts? How do you do that? Have you and your friends tried the Ultima Collection game by Lord British? Was it one of the games that caused problems? In any case, i will try to look it up in the internet and get whatever additional information i can. Thanks. ;)

Thanks for the reply GG. Never heard of such a tool before. What's this tool called? I'll try to look it up as well. :)
