is it just me or is Freedomfans.com DOWN?!??!?!?!

Been down for a while, buddy. Pretty much since Take 2 bought out Irrational Games.

Actually, last time I checked, and I do so every once in a while, they were still up.  The forums were down, but the site was up.

I think they meant the lovely "Bandwidth Exceeded" Message that currently appears on the site.
I guess our sheer numbers have finally brought down the server  :huh:

NOOOOOO i dont  have the hero editor tools for  :ffvstr: i got all the meshes but not the editor stuff what should i do now?

I probably have those somewhere.  If I don't, someone else does.  If it stays down, I'll throw them up on the Graveyard.

Bandwidth limit exceeded for July... new month: OK. :)

(Hopefully the source of the problem wasn't that their server haven't been hacked and turned into a zombie, because the problem would then happen again until fixed.)

I honestly see no other way that their bandwidth could be exceeded.

They may have decided to buy less bandwidth. Without the forums up and with the probable low hits for mod tools and so on, the site is using lots less bandwidth than it did a year or two ago. They might have undershot in their estimates for bandwidth requirements, though, and that could cause the error we've seen.

Of course, I would have thought that the whole FF site would have been shared on T2's servers, which would have had lots of bandwidth, but it could be they were hosted independently in the IG days and they were never moved...

Realistically, the needed bandwidth should be a very minor cost in the scale of business expenses. So, I can't see where anyone would look to that option as a way to save a couple bucks.
