am I missing out on something?

people seem to really like all things "J", and I really find it rather.. well.. stupid to a few egos that I could care less about, to be blunt :P

is this some universally loved thing on Freedom server? I never see people from that SG out and about, and wouldn' tknow they exist if not for their epic forum trolling.

I think "J-Man" is a somewhat famous player and SG leader on the Freedom Server, so there's probably a bit of a cult of personality surrounding him.  He also posts regularly on the Freedom server section of the CoH boards, so you can easily find stuff written by him and about him by going there.  I did see him once hanging out at WentWorth's, so he's a real live person.  As far as whether or not you're missing something, the answer is probably "No, except for membership in an MMORPG clique".  Otherwise, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

been there and done that with an internationally known/envied raid guild in WoW.

don't need that nonsense again!

I figured it was nothing significant, just some engorged egos.

but I Figured i'd ask since most of you know the server far better than I do (especially since I tend to ignore anyone not in my group, friends list, SG, or coalitions)

Verfall

He's also, bar none, the funniest guy to team with on the Freedom server.

J-Man and J-Force aren't really a bunch of egos. They are just a fun group of people hanging out with one another.

They even sided with FR & BOW in a big PvP event last year.

J-Man is one of the oldest (most vocal) Freedom celebs out there.  I love the way he and J-Force work within the Freedom community.  As Zap said they are always ready to help out and participate in events, and they take their comedic RP quite seriously, and almost alway talk and post in character.

In reality J is a great guy and don't let his posts fool you, he is an excellent writer.  He gets a lot of crap for his hip-hop-ish writing but it truly is an act, i have seen him write in perfect english, and having written dialog in the modern vernacular myself what he does write in character is actually a challenge to create.

Actually, prior to teaming with the J-Force in server events, Camma teamed with one of the original incarnations of J-Man waaaaaaaay back when they were level 10 or 12 and streetsweeping in Perez park (cuz thats all there was to do, there were no Hollows you noob!).

ThePrelate

hey now.. I was playing CoH before there was a Hollows.

Boomtown used to give me nightmares. I'd get my butt kicked so many times, I would just turn over on, get up high, and just SSLLOOWWLLYY 'fly' my way to my mission.

that was back when tanks were over powered and def were under powered and blasters were.. well.. blasters ;) and controllers were treated worse than non healing def!

It's nice to see some positive feedback on the J people. I'll keep an open mind to it if I have occassion to group with any of them in the future.

Zapow

The nice thing about J-Force is that none of them take themselves seriously.

Or anyone else.

And that really makes for some fun posting when you have folks who do take the J-Force and themselves seriously. That's like blood in the water for J-Force. They'll seize on it and begin the funny.

Camma

Just remember to politely decline if they ask you to bring a defender to "keep J healed".  The J-Folks goal is to reach the debt cap each night and get the debt badge within the first 20 levels.

Many FR folks maybe lament having to chace Spud or BAD around with heals, but they truly can't hold a candle to J-Man's ability to face plant.  :D
