It's been pretty empty during the day, and during the busiest hami raid, server load was well below limits, so for the re-launch, CoT's voice quality has been greatly increased -- Ventrilo's got nothin' on it now!

"City of Teamspeak" is a free high-capacity gathering ground for all City of Heroes/Villains players. Chat or find teams in the public channels, or create a private channel for your group. For details, and to download the client, visit http://cot.peregate.com

Well, it's a free voice chat host. I used to run a server, but a home connection (DSL, Cable, what have you) can only support 5-6 people and a game connection before it starts to get bogged down.

MJB,

Teamspeak is a program that runs in the background while you play your online games that lets you talk to others on the channel while you play.   I used to use it when I participated in an online racing league years ago to talk to my teammates while we were on the track.  I haven't used it for CoH yet, but it definitely helps to work out strategies while playing since you can talk faster than you can type.  It can also be fun to rag your buddies when you drop them in PVP.

I logged into the free server and NO one is there, I sat idle there for hours with only one other person, the one who showed it to me in the first place.

I love the idea of voice capacity in the game.

it would be nice to talk to groups, SG, channels, as an option.

I used to hate voice, but after WoW raids, I soon learned it was nice to be able to talk instead of typing and hoping ppl are watching chat.

Do we really wanna hear each other speak? I mean, I swear enough in text, you wouldn't believe what doesn't get typed

Its been a while since I used Teamspeak (and we really didn't use it that long), before that we used a program called Roger Wilco, which was like using a walkie talkie (it even included the sound walkie talkies make when you key the mic).  Anyway, the point is you had to actually key the mic to talk, so you can choose what you want to say over the channel.  So, Ver, your profanity-laden rants wouldn't be going out over the air unless you decide to key the mic beforehand.
