Howdy guys, as I explained in my mod thread, which you can read below, I'm going to be trying to release a steady stream of EZScript adventures based on the DCU.  To do that, it would be great if I could get some help with some of the maps I am thinking of.  Thor Reborn has already said that he wants a few of them too, so between the pair of us, we might manage to make a dent in this list.  Anyroad, if you have some time, or just really feel like helping out, pick a map off of this list (which I'll add to as storylines develop) and take a crack at it.  Thanks guys!
NOTES ON THE FUTURE OF DCUG:

Well, I have hinted about what my grand (and impractical) plans for this structure might be, when I mentioned using it as an EZSCRIPT platform.  The last week or so, while I'm bored at work, I've been sketching out storylines (or EZScript adventures, if you will) for various characters and teams.  I have a lot of material in skeleton form at the moment, and considering what I'm about to begin asking for, I suppose I should let you know what I intend to do with it.  As I said, my dream is to remake the entire DCU out of my own imagination, to write the over-arching stories of Batman's career, the adventures of Superman, the crime-fighting career of JLA, and the ending to the war between New Genesis and Apokolips (which I wouldn't dream of touching if the King had been able to finish it sad ).

So, heavily dependent on time (moreso than inspiration as I've already got months and months of material lined up) I want to release monthly 'comic issues' in EZScript format.  An adventure, part of an on-going series, all tied together in a developing master plan.  Now, ideally I'd like to release issues of each of the heroes, and maybe even a JLA once a month.  That's ridiculously unlikely, however.  What I might be able to manage is three or four issues a month, two staple and two rotating titles.  So, we'd have Batman and the Brave and the Bold every month along with two of: Hawkman, Superman, The Atom, JLA, Blue and Gold, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, etc.  Will I be able to keep up the monthly schedule?  Will I actually ever finish my grand plan for the DCU?  Will Batman and Robin escape the dasterdly clutches of the devilish device that holds them down?  Probably not, but I hope to entertain the community for a while, and encourage others to put out some of their own adventures.

Why talk about this now, many, many, MANY moons before the final version will be ready?  Mostly because this is a pretty large undertaking, and although I'm willing to do all of the requsite writing and work myself, it would be a pretty big help to me to have a few oddball skins and maps picked up as people have time.  For example, sooner or later, I'm going to need an Atlantian Citizen skin or two, along with some rather evil surprises that will pop up for the first time in my Aquaman storyline.  I'll need simple maps, as I said, like a Thanagarian market and wilderness.  So, I'm going to be making a seperate 'map request' thread to handle these things.  There won't be any rush on any of them, but if any of the community members feel like picking one up, I'd certainly appreciate it.  I imagine that I can fashion something for my stories on my own, but a little help would help me meet my monthly goals.
GENERAL:

Heli-Carrier: I need a big floating, high-tech base for a certain evil organization to utilize in a Brave and the Bold storyline beginning very soon.  I don't know quite how to go about doing this, but perhaps something could be made from the Timemaster discs, or one of the other maps with a death drop over the edges?
Gotham: even if someone can just convert the old one, that would be good.  I need a large map, in which vehicles would be useful...and I'll say no more. :EDIT: (Alrighty, thanks to Goggles mappack, this one should be relatively easy.  I'm not entirely certain what is involved in the coversion, but I'll take a crack at it soon.  So....don't worry about it just yet.
Apokolips: Red tints to everything, lots of fire, you get the picture
Darkseid's Throneroom: Red tints, rocky, fire...yeah.
Underwater Maps: ESPECIALLY one of Atlantis.  This is the one that I will most likely do myself, if no-one else volunteers.  I can build off the original Underwater.
Qward: The home of the Weaponers, just a high-tech looking place with lots and lots of yellow.
Oa: Green.....and....yeah.....
Midway City Museum: Perhaps some kind of version of the 'pictures in an exhibition' level from The Strangers?  I will also do this one if there are no volunteers
New Genisis: Supertown, and perhaps the paradisical planet below or the warrens of the 'Bugs.'  A port of a Time Master disc?

HAWKMAN: (I can't start on the Hawkman storyline until I get some of these, and I'm itching to tell my version of his saga.)

Thanagarian Market: Perhaps some version of the Cuban maps mated with high technology, I don't know quite what I'd like Thanagar to look like, but I do know that I'd like the dominant colors to be different from earth.  Perhaps blues or purples in vegitation and soil to give the place a truly alien atmosphere?
Thanagarian Countryside: Secluded, beknighted spot of wilderness.  Just the colors, really, are all that is needed.
Thanagarian Science Facility: High tech area, nothing too specific, lab tables and scientific stuff.
Office: Just a generic office, the type a police commissioner or other important person might use, for cutscenes. :EDIT: (Okay, I think that I've got something I can use for this, but if anyone feels like taking a crack at it, be my guest.)

Benton, who can make maps?

No, really... It's tough, right? I can recolour stuff for you, if you want, but can I make maps? No sir. Maybe I ought to learn, though. But yeah, if you direct me to textures you would like recoloured, I'll do it.

BentonGrey

Thanks Unko, I've gotten an offer of help from one of our map makers, I'll leave it up to him if he wants to be public.  The map making is pretty simple, I've done a tiny bit myself, but what is beyond me is the re-texturing, so you're help might be a big...well....help. ;)  I'll stew over what might be best and I'll let you know soon, thanks man!

BentonGrey

Hmm, just thought of one I need for the beginning of my JLA "comics."

Mars: Red....ermm....desert....maybe some ruin?  Yeah, that's pretty much it.

BentonGrey

Okay, I've converted DS's Mars map for my surface map, but because of whatever error is troubling me, I can't add any new objects to it...or rather, very few objects.  Still, it should work fine for the surface of Mars, however, I need something for the underbelly of the red planet.  I wonder if anyone has retextured any of the underground maps (preferably FF2) into a reddish tint?  It'd be especially great if they had added some ruin-type stuff, but not that important, I'm sure I can manage it.  Thanks guys, I'd like to know this so I can get to work on the first JL comic!

UnkoMan

As I've mentioned, Benton, you can send me whatever textures you need red and I'll red them up for you. It takes about five seconds, honestly.

BentonGrey

Ahh, I didn't think about maps as well!  Thanks Unko, I'll look into which textures I need tomorrow.

BentonGrey

Okay.....how do I tell which textures a map uses?

BentonGrey

*BUMP!*

I still need to know this. :)

tommyboy

You know you can set the lighting to red?
That could effectively recolour a map.
If you use EZscript and set lighting to "dawn" I think that'd pretty much do it.
Or perhaps the recently released Ego maps by CmdrKoenig67 would do. See his map thread.

cmdrkoenig67

Hmmmmm...Apokalips?  Atlantis?  Somebody may have already made these or some of them are still being put together...

Dana :D

BentonGrey

Whoops!  These responses must have come while I was on the road, sorry I missed them.  Thanks for the advice Tommy, I think that just might work!

Ahh, cmdrkoeing, you've piqued my interest now!  Haha, here's hoping that 'someone' will show us a preview before too long! ^_^

if you paid close attention to a certain mod thread...a certain new map was already shown off.

BentonGrey

Hmm......is that so?  I have an inkling about which that might be, but I suppose I'll have to wait and see! :D

BentonGrey

Ba-ba-ba-bum!

I'm itching to start the Thanagarian adventures!

BentonGrey

Well, still itching to start on Hawkman and such, but I've got a new request that is rather important to a Brave and the Bold storyline I started work on today.  I'll be able to release the first mission without anything special, but the second one will need a flying base of sorts.  I'll let your imaginations go wild, but I just need something from which the heroes could pitch flunkies off to their dooms.

cmdrkoenig67

I have an Apokalips map almost ready for release.  The Atlantis map is slow-going (I'm trying to get the underwater effects right), but hopefully I can release something soon.  You sparked my interest about the New Gods and Supertown...I may start on something soon that will fit it.

Dana

BentonGrey

Awesome Cmdrkoeing!  I am just going to hold off on starting my Aquaman stories until you finish that, which is no problem as there are tons of other stories that I can tell first.  Glad that I can add a little inspiration!  I thought of something just now, Pan's Island would be the perfect base for Supertown.

BentonGrey

Ba-bump!  I was just thinking about the Hawkman and Aquaman maps again today.  I'm going to be getting back to work on the DCUG this week, so it would be awesome to see some of those maps!

BentonGrey

Another bump...I really would love to get the Hawkman and Aquaman maps.  If I can get them, then maybe I can have some missions for them in the release.  Otherwise, it's going to be a lot longer.

electro

Aquaman map would be rad - Need more water maps in FF2

Jakew

Are there any underwater maps for FFvTTR?

BentonGrey

Well, I've got the underwater map converted, but it doesn't work as well because of the brighter nature of FF2....maybe I can play with the lighting for it....either way, I imagine it will be included in the mappack.  Yeah, if a new water map is ever made for FF2, I'd be able to adapt it (I think) to create others for Aquaman.
