Are there any specific programs I'd need to create Nif and KF files in 3dMax and what version of 3dMax do they work in? Thanks a whole bunch, mon amis, for whatever help ye can provide....it's much appreciated!

There should be a number of options for you here, DJ.  I am assuming that you are probably in possession of a copy of 3ds max more recent than 4 or 5, aye?  Well the NIFTools Project produced importers and exporters for 3ds max 5-9, IIRC.

Tiobe ye are a godsend...specially with the post-3dMax 4/5 plugins...seeing as I've got 9 at the moment.  :P
