Looking for some skinning help.
« on: April 07, 2021, 03:29:38 AM »
Hi all

I 've got some ideas for some characters and I think I can handle everything but the skinning part, so I'm looking to see if there's anyone who can help.

Anyone wanting to partner up let me know. Also, I know there aren't a lot of people around anymore who can mesh or do imports, so I'd be willing to help out in return. Or even if you can't help, I can try to do some work if you need it to help out the community.

Edit - if any of the below have been done, please send them my way!

1) Shuma Gorath - looking at the kraken mesh, if the head was flattened out and the mouth was reskinned into an eye, I think that would be a good start. I'm also going to try to bring in a Giant Squid and Octopus and see if one of them might be better.

2) DC's Shining Knight - I still have to skope on the helmet with wings to Gren's Crusader, but I think that after that it would be ready to skin.

Since I also feel like doing some animation characters....

3) Space Ghost - Space Ghost has been done a few times. I found a Brak , Zorak and Phantom Cruiser I think I can bring them in ready to go.

   a) I found a spider monkey model that might be a good Blip with skinning. Could also be skinned to Nkima for Tarzan.

   b) Jan and Jayce - I know Daglob was talking about these awhile back. Did they every get done? If not, female_teen _ponytail and male_teen would be good starts.

   c) I'd also like to see Moltar and Metallus get done. The Creature King might be hard, but maybe on the Mindworm mesh, or some other mesh with a large head - I
might be able to create a mesh in Blender if needed.

4) Jonny Quest - Race is already done, by Daglob I think. I made a Jonny, Hadji and Dr. Quest that are pretty good but need to be rigged. A second version with jetpacks would be nice. I'll be looking for a bulldog mesh that can be skinned into Bandit.

    a) Dr. Zin on male basic would be nice.

5) Archie - I'd like to see if someone could skin as many of these as possible. Reggie, Betty and Veronica would work on standard meshes. Jughead would need his nose stretched out and a beanie, but I think I could handle that. Moose, Midge, Dilton and Mr. Lodge would also be nice, as well as any other characters you can think of.

   b) Miss Grundy and Big Ethel - I don't know what would be a good match for these.

   c)  Mr. Lodge's butler, Pop Tate, Mr. Weatherbee and Archie's Dad could fit on male rotund.

Last, some Gold Key and other characters.

6) We've got Turok and Tarzan. How about Andar and Korak?

a)and how about Gold Key's Mighty Samson and Magnus Robot Fighter?

Sent Dean the Pan skope and I'm uploading it the Mega Site. It will be in the requests folder for now. Maybe forever.

Also, figured out how I wanted to get the Silent Knight skope completed and added a helmet, a flipped horn for a tassel, and Tommyboy's wings from his female_stormgod.

I think it came out looking pretty good. Dean's got that also.

It looks good as is, but hopefully better with a new skin.

Never finished Jan and Jace, and lack the tools to do so right now.

Hey, RD, I was interested in checking out the Kraken you showcased in Releases. I figured I might take a shot at skinning, skoping, or whatever needs to be done to get you a Shuma Gorath. I can't find him on your site, however. I looked in the Animals folder first and then looked everywhere else. Let me know if I missed it somewhere.

Hey Hoss

Thanks for the interest and possible help.

Its in the very first folder, named to be up top - "00 FFvt3R keyframe imports". Just checked and its there.

Edit - added a line on the release thread on where to find the new creatures. Sorry for any confusion.

If you need some mesh changing in Blender let me know. I think if the mouth area was bulged out a little for the eye, and the head flattened in to the body, that would get it closer to what Shuma looks like.

Daglob

No problem. I know you got a lot going on. Hope you get to the point where you can skin and mesh again.

Best wishes,

I don't know if this has been done, but I haven't seen it so far except in FX's

So, thinking about this topic, and remembering I had a thread going not to long ago asking about alpha channels, and last, what I learned that I used to make the Invisible Jet; I put it all together to get this -

This is Vertex's VX Space Ghost converted to FFvt3R. For some reason, even though the jet went transparent in FF, Space Ghost wouldn't.

Transparency is set to about 15%. It would probably look better in game with the environment showing thru.

Are there any transparent meshes out there? Daglob mentioned his Invisible Man, but after going through over 4000 skins in FF, I don't remember seeing one. I haven't gone to much into FFvt3R yet, but a quick check didn't show any.

I know there's a ability called second form though I haven't used it. If it's what I think it is, you could swap the normal character out for the transparent one.

Characters that could use this that I can think of right away;

1) Invisibles like Space Ghost, Invisible Woman and Invisible Kid

2) Character's that can phase, Like Martian Manhunter and the Vision

3) Energy creatures, like Zzzax, an electrical monster Hulk fought (done by Hoss 20)

4) Phantom Zone criminals, and Mon - el.

That space ghost looks awesome!
My Slimer imported mesh for FFVTTR is transparent. I dont remember what the opacity was set to, though.

Its a cool idea to have a second transparent form for a hero. I could see it working for Kitty Pryde and Deadman, too.
Renegade's Martian Manhunter (and Vision skopes I've based off of it) uses a second mesh set to be transparent that gets scaled in and out for certain phasing animations.

Thanks DM.

Edit - Just to say that I had nothing to do with the mesh or the skin - just the transparency.

It actually only takes seconds to do by adding the alpha property and then setting the opaqueness.

Its such a minor thing to do I probably won't post them unless people ask for them.

Good idea on the other characters.I'll have to see if I've got your Silmer, Manhunter and Vision skopes.

Jan was pretty far along, but Jase is barely started. I also include a Magnus and another Johnny Quest, and a keyframe swap that looks pretty good for Archie.

Awesome as always DG.

I hadn't even thought about those characters. So we can add Pureheart the Powerful, Superteen and Evilheart to the list.

As well as the Explorers of the Unknown and the Man from RIVERDALE.

Thanks again Daglob!

I've got it if Daglob can't find it. Kenn X has one on Alex's site, and I have one by Bill Damn 22 for FFvt3R also.

Wow!

I haven't looked at them yet, but I'm surprised that someone made them at all.

Thanks DG!.
