Yep, looks like the old team is making an official comeback to Cartoon Network:

EDIT:
Looks like they may be using the super-deformed chibi style seen in the DC Nation shorts:

I wish DC created the Teen Titans: The Judas Contract animated movie, so we could have received a version significantly closer to the comic book. That cutesy anime style is kind of annoying.

I agree with most of this.

As someone who reasonably enjoyed the TT show when it was airing, I'm happy with this announcement. Sure, this might not have the edge the original show had (IMO it was better written then many people give it credit for) but I get plenty of good writing from Young Justice so I'm not upset by that.

BentonGrey

Ehh, as long as there is a good DC show on, I don't mind this, but I'm certainly not excited to hear this.

I'm happy that TT is coming back in some form. Can't say that I watched the other series but I'm super happy for the people who did.

Glitch Girl

So... anyone seen this?

The animation style is basically the spawn of Teen Titans and Johnny Test.  The characters, while still voiced by their same original voice actors (and major props to this team, they are probably the best thing about the show), have their quirks taken to the Nth degree.  Some of the humor works, some of it skews below my demographic.

But... maybe it's just me, but the show is a real downer.

Cases in point: One episode ends with all the Titans dead and as ghosts.  One episode lets Robin get superpowers, he solves all the world's problems in about 5 minutes, then spends the rest of his life as a lonely middleclass cubicle worker until he ends up in a nursing home for an "I told you so" moment with the rest of the team who is now old and decrepit too.  And a more recent episode where Cyborg uploads himself to the Titans tower computer ends with him taking over the tower and turning the rest of the team into cyborg appliances (toaster, desk lamp, coffee maker, and vacuum cleaner).

Or maybe I'm thinking about this too much.

Well, I like the show.

I find it really funny most of the time.

Some of the plot resolutions are pretty lazy (as Glitch Girl mentioned), and often feels somewhere between a loving homage to the original show and a subversion of why people liked it.

But I really do look forward to each new episode of TTG.

Ehh, I wished the old show would have stiffened up and dropped the anime tropes, but this new one is entirely insufferable as far as I'm concerned.  My wife and I watched about five minutes of it, and that was more than enough.

This week's episode totally lampooned the TT Season 2 "Transformation" episode:
http://teentitans.toonzone.net/index.php?content=reviews/transformation/index

This time around, Starfire had no shame about the unseemly bump growing on her person.  However, both episodes ended with the Titans going up against a giant alien spider creature (aka "Chrysalis Hunter") halfway across the galaxy.  It didn't end so well for them this time though...   :o

BG, I remember you saying that Young Justice was definitely your preferred tone in a young superhero show.  What were your thoughts on how that series wrapped up its run?

Tomato

see, I put this show in about the same range as I put shows like Super Hero Squad... it's just not meant for my/our age range. This show is meant for children, like my 2 year old adopted brother, who absolutely loves it. My parents actually bought the tiny titans sdcc exclusive from last year as cake toppers for his birthday.

Oh, and he's assigned each of us a titan name. My brother is Robin, my sister is Starfire, the dog is beast boy, and I... am Raven.

I do not understand it either.

There are much worse things in life.  I'd love to be Cyborg; he's like a genuine member of the Justice League in every continuity these days!

BentonGrey

You're totally Raven, 'Mato.  Don't fight it.

Winters, YJ wasn't my preferred tone.  It was all serious, doom and gloom, and melodrama, with no light, joy, or laughter.  Yes, there were little comedic moments, but the feel of the show overall was oppresively serious.  JLU is my preferred tone for a team show.  It is pretty much the best of all superhero worlds.  That said, YJ was quite good, and I enjoyed its finale.  I was actually quite sorry to see it go when it did.

Now that you mention it, I do remember your laments on YJ when compared to the Justice League/JLU verse.

I think YJ had the foundation to rival that show for greatness during its first season, but it slowly squandered its potential during Season 2.  Actually, I think the decline might have begun right around the "Failsafe" episode of Season 1.

YJ started to take itself and its endless buildup for "The Light" so seriously and the show never really paid off that anticipation.

Maybe that's a big reason why I appreciated the old Teen Titans show so much.  The creators probably recognized that they didn't need to try and achieve Justice League epic-ness because it would never be able to better Justice League.  It was proud to be its own thing, and I both respected and enjoyed that immensely.

I just saw TTG and I have to say the animation stinks!  TT was good and I enjoyed it.  I'm happy the cast is basically the same, but the animation reminds me of Hammer Man.

Cyber Burn

My son, who just turned 4 today, loves it. It bothers me because I loved the original TT show, and this just feels cheap.

Tomato

I wouldn't say cheap... I've watched several episodes with my adopted brother(3 years old), and some of the humor and animation is legitimately decent. But it's like with Brave and Bold... I hated that show for a long time, until it dawned on me that it wasn't for me. Brave and bold was for the generation that grew up with the silver age and for their young kids. Similarly, TTGs is intended for young kids, not for grouchy old comic nuts like you and me.

Podmark

You know I actually enjoy the show. It's not amazing or anything but I've gotten a few laughs from it. Robin is such a jerk in it.

Silver Shocker

I also enjoy it. I genuinely expected to hate it until I actually saw it. It's random, subversive humor reminds me a lot of shows like Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors (which I assume was deliberate).
