fx color question

how hard is it to re-color an existing fx?want to turn a cone fx red!

If for either, changing the color of the fx takes a painting/photo editing program to alter the color of the TGAs (in FF2, you'll have to first convert the DDS files for the fx to TGA format, don't forget to convert them back after).  You also have to make sure (in both games) to get your Alpha layers correct in the paint program (in order for your fx textures to look right)...

For   the color of the light given off by the fx can be changed via a hex editor or NifSkope, I believe.

I think I got all of that correct.
