Source of the Sentry's powers?

I was looking at bios of different heroes/villians and read up on this one http://www.marvel.com/universe/Richards,_Franklin Does it make sense to anyone else that Robert Reynold's latent mutant gene was activated by the unfinished uber super soldier serum that he drank? That he developed psionic powers similar to Franklin Richards. His origin was always lacking and this fits better, or maybe he IS Franklin Richards from another timeline/dimension. They both have blonde hair and blue eyes. Hmmmm
