Interesting news has come up about one of Marvel's oldest characters:

Quote from: http://www.deadline.com/2010/06/will-dr-strange-be-marvels-first-superhero-to-fly-under-the-disney-banner/eMarvel Studios has hired Conan scribes Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer to write Dr. Strange, marking forward progress on a long-gestating superhero property which will likely be among the first Marvel films generated under the Disney banner.  Aside from Conan--the Marcus Nispel-directed Lionsgate film that stars Jason Momoa--Donnelly and Oppenheimer also scripted a live action adaptation of the vidgame Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for Sony and producer Chuck Roven, and they wrote a draft of the Jon Favreau-directed Cowboys and Aliens for DreamWorks/Universal.

What do we think FRers? I'm always wary of Dr. Strange being made into movies, and the past few attempts haven't been the best representations of the character. He's stooped in magic and mysticism, and he's literally capable of doing whatever he pleases at any given moment, depending on what the writer needs him to do. I just see him and his world as one that can be easily abused and delivered in a disappointing form.

I'm not that worried yet.. Disney has shown they learned their lesson with Pixar and should allow Marvel Studios to function as it's own thing so there shouldn't be fear that we should see shades of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" anywhere near this film. There is now rumors that Del Toro is being targeted to be involved somewhere because he has been pestering Marvel for awhile on making sure that a Ditko influence in style would be used if he was involved in the film (and it's pretty obvious from Hellboy that he could handle that task).

My curiosity right now would be on figuring out who would play Dr. Strange and his supporting cast..

I'd like to see Guillermo del Toro direct a lot of superhero movies, but this seems like a perfect fit. He does the best make-up/puppet stuff I've ever seen and mixes it with CG really well. I'd say that Hellboy II has the best special effects of any movie ever.
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.
