Favorite Bat-Girl

So, after my previous poll seemed to have... underwhelming results, I decided to do something a bit more traditional this time around. This time, it's who's your favorite Bat-girl. For me, I can't honestly say. I've only been making an honest effort to go through the actual Batman comics fairly recently, (my only previous experience with Batman being TAS and the live-action movies,) so while I may gain a comprehensive knowledge of nearly everything Batman related someday, there's still some stuff I just don't know that well yet, and that includes most of the Bat-girls. I do have some experience with Betty Kane, (who I honestly don't care a whit for,) and especially Barbara Gordon, but I haven't really been that interested in her backup shorts in Detective Comics and Batman Family, (I'm going through a decades long binge, FYI,) so I haven't seen a lot of her. I think she'd be more interesting as Oracle, but as Batgirl, she just doesn't seem to have a lot of personality, (in the comics anyway,) and so she isn't a very compelling character for me.

So yes, I'm not voting myself just yet, though please vote yourselves.

Well this is easy for me, Cassandra Cain. She's a candidate for my favourite DC character. Her silently but deadly characteristics really appealed to me. The first run of her solo series was very memorable for me. She's finally returning in Batman & Robin Eternal and I can't wait.

I like Barbara but she's nothing I've experienced with her that takes her to that next level for me. I prefer her as Oracle.
I also like Stephanie, but not as much as Cass. She seems like the most relate-able of all the Bat characters.
Not very familiar with Bette.

Yup its Cass for me as well, with Babs being close second. She was very unique in the Bat fam, was sorry to see her gone as batgirl. Really wanna see what they do with her in B&R Eternal.

Technically, only Betty was a Bat-Girl.   The rest were all Batgirls.

Well, I feel pretty much the same about Batgirl as I do about Robin.  To me, there's only one, and that's Barbra.  I don't really dislike the others, but I don't care about them at all. Barbra is Batgirl for me, just as Dick is Robin.

I'm kind of fifty-fifty between Babs and Cassie, but on the whole I'm more inclined to say that Cassandra Cain is who I think of in terms of Batgirl. It's a hard call, because Barbara was Batgirl in pretty much all other media while I was growing up, but when I started reading comics she had already transitioned into her position as Oracle... and in doing so became one of the few examples of a disabled character who wasn't evil, or at least total jerk. It's the sort of thing that would basically end pretty much any other superhero (I mean, really. Could you imagine Superman being able to fight crime in a wheelchair?) but Oracle was easily one of the most influential characters in the DCU prior to the N52 and having Cyborg shoved into that position. As Batgirl though, there was very little that stands out about her... she's smart and strong willed, but compared to the other ladies who filled that role she was kinda generic.

By contrast, we have Cassandra Cain. Where Tim Drake's Robin had an intellect that had the potential to someday overshadow Bruce's own, Cassandra was the daughter of an assassin, and possessed fighting abilities that rivaled Batman's. It was refreshing to see a "girl" character played up as the better fighter.

Unfortunately, the only "Batgirl" I have any familiarity with is Barbara Gordon, and I've always liked her as a Character, she gets my vote.

Cassandra wins this for me as a Batgirl. I loved her ability and background and it was great to see a female be the actually feared one in the Bat-Family.. even scarier than Batman himself.

I think Barbara was better in her Oracle persona. Stephanie Brown is a great character but is still a rookie to me, so Spoiler/Robin is more appropriate.

And the original Bat-Girl, Bette Kane.. what a lousy outfit she originally wore! Yeesh.
