I've (painfully) compiled the code to Mac OS X. Just in case someone among the 1.3 other Mac user(s) here might find it useful, it's available at http://epimethee.webfactional.com/ff/NifSkope_1_1_3_Mac.dmg (tested on OS X 10.8 and 10.9).
Although I don't use a mac, I am really appreciative of the hard work it takes to port from one system to another. And I am sure that the mac users will appreciate it to.
And thanks for everything you contribute to this great game.
Thank you very much for the kind words, WyldFyre.
However, porting the game was limited to compiling, as the Nikskope team used a cross-platform solution, Qt (a product which is looking more and more amazing). I could probably have compiled it successfully much more easily if a) I didn't already have old versions from different sources of the libraries etc and b) I knew what I was doing... there's a first time to everything.* Mind you, various forums seemed to indicate that I wasn't the only one having problems. :P
*Which is also often the last, as History demonstrates through the fine examples of luminaries such as the first man to jump from a cliff without a parachute, the first nitroglycerine juggler or the first piranha tamer.
Having trouble downloading it now,Can someone fix the link?
Yeah, I changed providers recently – and set up my new Mac an hour ago. Here's a temporary link: https://dsc.cloud/ddb7d7/NifSkope.zip (The app did open and display a mesh on MacOS 12 M1, so it might actually work on 10.8+!)
