Title: Marvel page updates

Here are Skaar, A-Bomb and Heimdall (Idris Elba).

Skaar was originally Gren's Ares and Randomdays replaced the body and made a few tweaks (I'm not sure fully of what though), as well as made adjustments to the keys.

A-Bomb was Abomination by Gren. I stripped out the hexable items and replaced them with custom geometry for A-Bomb, most of the facial parts with Lego Marvel Superheroes as a base. Fixed some minor texture problems in the initial mesh.

Heimdall was Silver Samurai by Gren, and I added a skirt, kneepads and male basic from Grenadier's various Thor meshes, and a bunch of new geometry. The armor and helmet began using Lego Marvel Superheroes as a base. The Silver Samurai parts are all still in if one wants to make future Samurai hexes.

Squirrel Girl is on Ink's Hepzibah. I deleted everything but the body and gun, and hid the gun. The hair, aviator cap, tail, glove and boot cuffs are ported and rebuilt from Marvel Heroes then skinned and weighted to the original. Skins included standard, Aviator based on the costume from the game (this does not appear in the comic, rather her normal costume with an aviator cap and blue and black striped scarf), GLX-Mas (from the cover), GLX, Marvel Zombies, Winter (from GLX-Mas again) and Summer Fun which is a quick bathing suit a cobbled up.
Packaged with is Squirrel which is BigCatVersatile by Valandar. I reshaped the original mesh and brought in a tail to make it into a squirrel then deleted the extras. I then added a handle, shrunk it and added extras. A huge squirrel is included as well which is the size of the native mesh. Skins included standard, Monkey Joe, Tippy-Toe, Tippy-Toe aviator, zombie and X-Mas.

After going out and getting the new Revolutionary War comic starring this character for research, I looked at the request
thread and realized it was a completely different character (understandable as I was preoccupied with trying to figure out the
date (of my birth) as I always am) . Dark Angel here is...I don't know who this is but she's from some comic called Cyberforce
3000 and an alternate Marvel earth called Earth-M. Anyways, an FX mesh so Magma by Ink it was and then some hair from Rogue by
Ink brought in to get the poofy 80's movie look going. I did the skin using a C6 base to hurry it along.

Agent Phil Coulson is The Punisher mesh originally by the talented Grenadier. I deleted the body and added a male suit V.2 by Gren. I then replaced the Uzi's with handguns and rifle with the Destroyer gun. I sculpted the hair to match Phil and added ears, an earpiece, sunglasses, a card and an id tag and. Finally I deleted all of Frank's costume accessories.

Morgan Le Fay is Gren's Enchantress. I deleted all of the extra Enchantress parts except the shield, then added ears, a dress, a necklace, a belt, earrings, a body suit, tweaked hair from Gren's Invisible Woman and skulls from Ink's Mystique.

Neil Gaiman's Angela from Guardians Of The Galaxy (NOW) is based in Gren's Eternals Thena, which in turn is based in female versatile and Eve. I removed much if it leaving the original body, nodes and animations, then made all new Angela parts. I had previously mentioned doing an Image Comics Spawn variant but this one ended up being much more work than predicted and to make the other I would have had to make an entire second set of pieces. Maybe in the future or anyone else could using this as a base if they're inclined.

The Bride of Nine Spiders is Gren's Black Canary. I deleted the extras and added loincloths, new hair, a spiked collar and chains for the Bride.

Madame Masque is Ink's Talia. I added a mask, belts and some pouches then reassigned the textures. I didn't have to do much to get this one in that wasn't already there.

The Hood is a modified version of Irrationals Tombstone with a male basic and extras added.

The Orb is Punisher by Gren. I removed most of the Punisher bits, one of the guns and the rifle and replaced the gun and added Ord bits. I also cropped the keyframes and added new ranges (yay, my first kf swap!) to match the character and an existing hero file. The gun is from Marvel Pinball.

Madcap is Ink's Captain Cold. I first removed all the fur. Then I welded a male basic head to the Captain Cold body and reshaped the whole thing. The bootcuffs are from Ren's CA, remapped for Madcap.

Forbush Man is Gren's Punisher. I sculpted the mesh to match Irving, then deleted all the extras except the guns. I skoped in a cape and sculpted it and added new parts. I added a ranged keyframe and switched the idle. Lastly I resized the mesh.

Death's Head II is on Gren's Colossus Classic. I removed all of the extras and took out Ren's male muscular tall, scrapped the head and welded a basic one on then reinserted it and brought it back to it's original size. For the weapons I used a bit of TJ's male basic symbiote as a base, lifting the axe outright and sculpted the rest of it. The head was a skull from a share site that I sculpted to look like DH2. I then made the hair (or had previously and recycled it) and costume bits. I of course tweaked the animations to fit and skinned it. This ones got some bugs to resolve in a V.2 sometime. The animations aren't very smooth and I couldn't get add-ons to clamp position, like the codpiece for an unknown reason. This chiefly happens in flight which is something DH2 doesn't actually do but if anyone knows how to resolve this tell me and I'll patch it and upload the new one nonetheless.

Dr. June Covington aka Toxie Doxie is on Ink's Poison Ivy and has other bits that hail from Ink's works. The nif itself was chosen for it's animations being a good match for June. I got rid of the extras (leaves), the hair and the body. I brought in the mesh and heels from Ink's Black Queen and the hair from Ink's white queens. I changed the hair a little then skoped in a cape and the coat from Ink's Moira. I changed the texture assignment of those parts and weighted them then sculpted sidecapes from Ink's Storm's sidecapes and the rest of the cloth costume parts as well as the guants and straps. I added a hood from Ink's Raven and sculpted a new piece onto it and the glasses from Moira which I made lenses for. Lastly I brought in the headdress from Ink's Scarlet Witch Gypsy which I sculpted to look like June's. She comes with two skins, Toxie Doxie as the standard and Dark Avengers Scarlet Witch as an alternate.

Drax is on male hunter by MikeDSwain. I removed all geometry except the swords. I brought in male muscular and replaced the guns with Gren's Cables which I resized to fit this nif. He really didn't need them but there were a few gun animations and I figured why not just leave them but put more " space age " guns in their places? I made knives from the swords. For the traditional comic book ones I really I only needed to shorten the sword blade and add a sphere to the hilts. I then tweaked that mesh further to resemble the shape of the movie knives. I also added a third set meant to look like his energy blades from the NOW series. These were made using Gren's Desak's axes as a starting point. I then made and added his various costume bits. Many do not exactly stick uniformly to the mesh. I think this is an error I made in assigning these parts to a male muscular mesh but the hunter hierarchy at the same time? They don't really look bad anyways and I compensated on the textures so I think it will do as is. I also donated some keys from Gren's Demon and changed them after the fact in order to let him throw his blades (ranged_11-13). Lastly I kicked up the size a little. Drax has four skins: Annihilation as the standard, Marvel NOW!, a live action with black pants and one with red each having it's respective buckle, bits and straps. The bladed weapons switch according to whichever skin is in use as well.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Gamora is Sif by Gren. I kept the body, kneepads and cape and deleted the rest. The loincloth and tiara were sculpted using bits from Gren's Thena as a base. The skulls were made using a generic skull as a base and the classic buckle has a male basic head incorporated into it. The hood is from Ink's Raven and the hair from his females as well though I changed it a bit to fit this nif. The NOW hair is extracted from Vertex's vxmale and I altered it to fit I made the rest of the parts. Gamora has five skins: The red and blue D&A Annihilation variant as the standard, a traditional Annihilation, Marvel NOW!, Classic Infinity Watch and a live action one. I passed on the red movie costume as I couldn't find enough source material to work from (at the time of this writing the movie hasn't been released and I'm working off promotional images) The weapons change according to the skin chosen.

Star-Lord is on Gren's Cable. I removed the body, costume bits and weapons and made new ones to replace them with. The jacket is from Ink's Gambit. I changed both it's texture assignment and weighting for an earlier work. The star bit on the NOW helmet began as a piece I took from Lego Marvel Superhero's. The guns were originally from other Gren meshes though I chopped, changed and added to them to the point they are no longer recognizable as the originals. The Annihilation costume/body is a tweaked version of male_sideclose_jacket. I removed the rifle (big gun) animations since they were no longer in use. Star-Lord comes with seven skins: The red and blue D&A Annihilation variant as the standard, a traditional Annihilation, Marvel NOW!, a no helmet variation of the Marvel NOW! one, a Classic one, a live action one and a no helmet/short jacket version of that. The guns change according to which skin is selected.

For Ghost I used a male basic and Gren's/JP's male as a base then shaped and worked it until I felt it looked like Ghost's physique. Then I made and added his costume bits. Grenadier's Vision keyframes are included.

Troll is Bacchite by Irrational. I brought in a female teen from one of INK's meshes, then made a Troll costume and an axe which I put in place of the staff. I resized the whole thing and changed all the values and texture assignments.

For Electralux from Power Pachyderms I used a skope of Elektra I previously put together from Ink's Mockingbird by bringing in a sash, a cap and sai's in place of the staffs. I now sculpted a new Pachyderm body and made and added a trunk and ear rings. I deleted all the other extras and brightened the values.

Zombie Colonel America is on Captain America by Gren. I left everything intact with the exception of the body which I sculpted into a zombie. I made and added a brain, eyes, a buckle and a skull. I also replaced the idle and run animations with the ones from Tommyboy's zombie.

Captain America Sam Wilson is on Captain America by Grenadier. I skoped in the wings from INK's Falcon then made new costume bits for Sam. I combined the keyframe sets from both meshes and made adjustments where needed then gave it a texture. I also retained the included FX renaming it and changing the texture assignments.

For Scarlet Witch Uncanny Avengers I took Gren's SW and removed the extras and brought in the coat and head dress from Marvel Heroes and a sculpted version of the hair from INK's whitequeens.

Yabbat Ummon Turru aka Black Swan is on Diamond Lil by Grenadier. I removed the hair and added a new one using the hair from Magik from Marvel Heroes as a base. I made and added costume bits, a handle and a skin.

I removed much of the geometry and sculpted new parts using the original ones and the helmet from Gren's Kree Solider. I traded the hammer for the ones on Gren's Thor. The texture for Mjolnir is by Avalon.

Nightmask is on Enchantress by Gren. I removed all the geometry except the shield then brought in a male basic and added a dress and Nightmask spirals.

Star Brand (NOW) is just male teen 14 with some hair and ears added. Edit: I resized the mesh a bit at the handle and moved up the Spine 01 node to make him more lanky.

Proxima Midnight is on Gren's Zivon. I removed the geometry and brought in a female from Ewzzy's/Lord Ehmsidy's Crymsin. I made and added some costume parts, a new spear and sized everything up at the handle.

Nova (NOW!) is a deformed Marvel Heroes model on Starbolt by Gren. Initially I was just going to cleft the helmet but the model was too nice to part with it. After weighting and transplanting I resized the mesh to make it a teen. All the original FX nodes are still present.

Corvus Glaive is on Horus by Gren. I deleted all geometries and made new ones as well as a special Corvus body.

Supergiant is on Moondragon by Gren. I removed all geometries and added a new body, cape and costume bits.

Ebony Maw is on male basic. I made a new body using Gren's/Jp's male and added costume bits. I added Gren's Vision keyframes then imported some more keys from his High Evolutionary and Mentor ones.

These can be downloaded from my Marvel page here.

Looking good!
And am I reading that correctly, you can import items from the Lego marvel game? Cool.
Title: Re: Marvel page updates
Post by: SickAlice on January 03, 2014, 01:45:51 AM
Thanks. These ones were fussy for lack of a better term, and I sped through them. You can sort of do that. I pulled them out from the Lego game as .3dxml files. But like I said as a base since Lego pieces won't really conform to FF bodies outright. I could have done say Heimdall's helm and armor just using my own simple geometry, but felt those models would end with a better looking piece as well I don't really have the time for that. I encourage anyone to reskin, remodel and do whatever they feel to the above as always.

Coulson's face looks great, and I LOVE that Gun. I will definitely have to find a use for it somewhere.  :D
Title: Re: Marvel page updates
Post by: SickAlice on March 28, 2014, 09:54:24 PM
Kudos. I was getting anxious that it wasn't going to work for a bit, especially pulling off skinning it in parts and sides like I did (to save future skinners any grief and create the glow illusion).
I'm mostly happy with the way the hair came out on Coulson. I had to redo that part a few times before I had anything I liked. I didn't mention it much but that the card and glasses are visible, just aplha'd out on the skin. The card is positioned to match Ink's Gambit but doesn't do anything. I thought for future tweaking or it could be exported to give Phil a Rally The Troops type FX or something. The sunglasses were added for anyone who prefers to do a comic book (Secret Avengers) look.

Added Morgan Le Fay.

Did you Mesh Coulson's Gun from scratch?

Morgan looks very nice.
Title: Re: Marvel page updates
Post by: SickAlice on March 30, 2014, 01:25:07 AM
Thanks and nope. I started with an extracted gun from Lego. Since it was a Lego version it didn't match side by side with the one from the film, so I started chopping it up and making new parts. I also brought in the stock and scope from a different one and altered them to fit...from Cable I think? It's a frankenmesh.

Thanks. I wish the dress would have turned out better, those things can be tricky to work with sometimes. I could have swore someone skinned her back in the NPI days...maybe a just dreamed that? I really love the character though, easily my favorite Avengers foe.

Added Angela.

Man, that is nice, I really like her double bladed weapon.
Title: Re: Marvel page updates
Post by: SickAlice on April 07, 2014, 09:11:47 PM
Thanks Cyber. That piece ended up being easier to model than I thought (I used the first appearance in Age Of Ultron #10 for reference). It was the head dress that took a toil. I remade that thing at least four times before I had something that resembled the comics. The whole thing was a weird process. Most of the pieces ended up all over the place in the scene at the end and I had to manually adjust their individual positions and rotations. That was much of the reason this one took so long to finish. Feels good to have it out of the way.

Title: Re: Marvel page updates
Post by: SickAlice on May 23, 2014, 01:53:49 PM
I left a few out, sorry for that. I did go through every costume she ever wore when doing this. I left out ones that were only slight variations on more well known ones as I felt including them would be redundant. Others were left out, like alternate realities because she would have different powersets in those instances and therefore call for different meshes, like the Age Of Apocalypse one for example. I also didn't do any caped ones. I put a cape on it but thought it looked terrible. That would have been for Malice and her Uhari costume. I really wanted the latter but really loathe the former and think it looks bad in 3d space. Mainly I stuck with the ones I thought looked sharp in game. Glad your enjoying them though. All else I think I provided much of what anyone needs to make any skins I didn't include and encourage anyone to expand on the set. I would love to see the results.

I gotta say, I don't know the character, but she looks good.

I have to say that I like reading the "Read Me" type files on new releases, not only to try and learn a bit about the characters, but also to see what went into making them. I must admit that I am always really impressed with the amount of work that you put in to each character you make. It's really inspiring.

Yep. Starlord and Gamora are next, working on them right now actually. I have Peter's various helmets finished and his movie guns. I finished all the costume bit's for Gamora's Infinity Watch, Annihilation, and D&A GOTG era (the red and blue version of the Annihilation costume) today. Working on the swords/polearms at this moment. She's also going to have a Marvel NOW and live action costume (maybe the red one as well) when I'm done. Starlord will have a classic costume, an Annihilation one (blue and white), D&A (blue and red), Marvel NOW and live action. He'll also have unmasked versions of the NOW and movie ones and the correct guns for each costume. The hold up is that there's a lot of details to do by hand for Gamora. As well I sort of messed up my base skull and didn't notice until late forcing me to start over...oops. So as soon as I can but yeah, on the way. I'm also doing a Maxam. He'll only have the one costume of course. I'll probably make him a one piece mesh on a size changing nif.

Patched Gamora. I blanked out or something and originally alpha'd out the loincloth on her Infinity Watch skin. Sorry to anyone I'm making redownload by doing that.

I really need to try the sleep thing one of these days. I hear it helps confusion, lol.

Wow, weird and thanks for the heads up. Like I said I have some curse lately where ever release has a flaw. I'll figure it out and upload a patched version.

Thanks CB. My roll is going to halt. My hand is getting much worse and it's hard to use my mouse or write now. I'll fix this one but then I have to give my fingers a little time to heal. Prolly a week of no productivity at worst.
Title: Re: Marvel page updates

Okay uploaded the patched version and real sorry for that. What I had done was injected the NOW! gun a second time and into the slot that was supposed to have a Live-Action one. That's what I get for not going through and looking at the animations like I should be doing (I also didn't try this one in game either, for shame!).

Thanks. Sorry for the lackluster skins. I was working on thirteen other things that I was putting a gross amount of detail into (that will be released on Sunday night when I get to the hotel) and a ton of GL stuff outside that and popped just the meshes for these two out quick while taking a breather from the other project and housework. Really interested to see a detailed skin for Ghost from anyone.

Thanks. It's mostly sharp though because the costume design already is, less my intervention (I did everything except the keys in a little over an hour, lot else on my schedule today). Can't wait to see what you have planned.

OK. I won't troll your release thread anymore, after this one, because I know we weren't really supposed to, once upon a time. But I get excited!

So please know this stands for whatever you might choose to release: Doing these new versions of characters is SOOOO appreciated! I can't thank you enough -- it's really awesome to have these, no matter what you may or may not do in the future!

Keep on rocking -- it's great to see them!

@El1jahSnowFan: Thank you. I don't make the rules here so I dunno but I don't mind the chatter. Trolling as defined by me would be using the thread for some form of negativity which I don't see any of you doing. Mostly when you guys chat it helps me get an idea of what characters you want to see in game and what to work on next. Like these Time Runs Out characters for example. I wanted to work on them for awhile but I hadn't seen any talk of them so I postponed them otherwise. Now that I know some users here want characters from the Black Order and such they're in full swing. Black Order next then of course. I'm fixing a flaw on Proxima and have Ex Nihilo in the works, then I'll move on to Abyss, Ebony Maw, Supergiant and Corvus Glave. Ebony Maw looks like the most complex to do but we'll see when I cross that road. Either way any response and request is appreciated on my end so carry on.

Gah! I cannot contain my excitement -- I CANNOT WAIT for the day I can fully simulate Infinity #6's showdown between the Avengers and the Black Order!

I am in my mid-40s, but I do not care! THAT WILL BE AWESOME!!!!

This is my favorite run in 35 years of me reading comics, so whatever you do...YEAH! (And a teeny, tiny, miniscule hope for...Thane? Son of Thanos?)
Title: Re: Marvel page updates

Great job on these, Nightmask looks pretty much perfect. I'm down for more Hickman Avengers, I took a break from it after Infinity but I'm itching to get back into it.

However one question, why male teen 14 for Starbrand? I'm pretty sure he was in college during his origin story, which would put him around 18-20. He is certainly of a thinner build though.

Thanks, thanks, thanks and thanks, lol.

@El1jahSnowFan: I'm thinking about Thane, but he looks like a huge pain. I thought about it a bit and I think he would need fully sculpted body armor and that stuff can be exhausting to do. I won't write him out but won't promise anything on that one either mostly because I have a bunch of other things going on.

@Podmark: I thought about the same thing. I was looking at some source material when making it and looking at him standing next to other characters and backdrop in various panels. The depiction fluctuates a bit but he's a pretty meek guy and really short too, not even as tall as Jessica Drew. I think the portions on the teen mesh throw it off but it was the closest pick I could find. The male basic mesh was too tall and too buff for him. I think he could be a taller than what I went with. Maybe I'll 2.0 that one. It wouldn't be hard to do.

-
Added Proxima Midnight.

Edit: Uploaded a resized Star Brand in place of the other RAR. That looks a little better in game. I stood him next to Gren's Cap and Nightmask. Seems closer to whats on panel.

Post by: SickAlice on April 10, 2015, 09:00:42 PM
Thanks. Thank Randomdays and hoss more than anyone, and any long time skin creator. Those two taught me a lot recently. I would agree with your opinion of myself as for the longest time I didn't take the texturing end seriously either. More recently I've sat and studied both archives from here and a few from people who work in the industry to try and polish my stuff a bit. So it means a lot to here I made it to a point I was working towards. AA is definitely a source of inspiration here. Between him, windblown and Podmark I was urged to try and reinvent how I approached all this.

Now if I can figure out Supergiant. The nif is 100% finished but despite enough reference material at hand I can not for the life of me figure out her costume design, especially the arms. I'm thinking a soak in the tub is in order and maybe my mind will limber up then I can try it again tonight. Then onto Ebony Maw of course who I have laid out in my head pretty well. I'm passing on Black Dwarf unless I get a specific request. The design just doesn't excite me for some reason.

@Podmark: Thanks much Pod, that means a lot to me.

@ghazkul: I've been fiddling with Superior Iron Man. Getting over a few hurdles with that one yet. I always wanted to do Medusa but never felt I'd do it justice.

Thanks. Doing the newer designs has been on my mind. Technically I could care less about about doing a character like Supergiant but the costume design is really neat. I keep tabs on the request board as well. It may take awhile but I'm always noting what's coming up there. In most cases the requests are too in advance, whereas I don't have a lot reference material to understand what every angle of the costume looks like so I end up waiting until enough issues are in print.
