Its a crime there wasn't a Master of Magic II.
this is really hard for me to pick just 5, as with each generation I've had different expectations. But overall:
-Legacy of Kain series (Soul Reaver 1 got me into this series which has one of the best stories told in videogames, period.)
-Knights of the Old Republic (with much honorable mention to Mass Effect, and all Bioware games, but KOTOR was my first)
-Curse of Monkey Island (imo, the best point-n-click adventure game of all time)

I could probably pick my top 10 games per console, easily. Or at least easier that narrowing it down to top 5 of all time. Some of the older NES and Genesis games would have made my list, but right now I have different criteria.
X-Com: UFO Defense - I could fire this up today and think it's better than most game out there
Fallout 3 - I eat, drink, and breathe this game
Baseball Stars (NES) - glad to see it made Ephemeris and Mr. Hamrick's lists
Civilization 4 -although I probably played more of 2 but sometimes nostalgia isn't everything)
Spiderman 2 - best superhero game I've played but it does get repetitive
That 5th spot could easily have gone to XML, XML2 or MUA (same game to me) Hell, ask me tomorrow and I'll probably say those were the best superhero games ever.

Same here. 3rd person whenever I can. I get wierd looks when I tell people I play Fallout 3 in 3rd person. :P

First person games give me killer headaches. I'll play them but only if I really like them or I'm playing multiplayer with my buddy.
First Person games never gave me headaches or motion sickness. I just always prefered to see the character I'm using.
It always annoyed me that a game company would put all that time and money into designing their main playable character...only to never really see him/her...aside from ingame cinematics and the cover of the game.
Games like Crysis or TimeShift...where the main characters are fantastically rendered and detailed...should have had a 3rd person option so you can actually see that work. I wonder how many hundreds of sketches their art departments must have done to get to those final designs....
I agree with yall on the 3rd person view- I never really understood that view for shooters because if you run around with a gun you wouldn't ever really notice it until you aimed so having it stuck at eye level to the bottom right corner of the screen all the time doesn't make much since - Might as well have a character there instead or at least the option to move the camera around ala Fallout - I have had arguments with friends on this topic - Some say they like first person view because it makes them feel more submerged in the game like "There really the character" - Where for me I like to be the "God of the character" :blink:
