Rigging hands is one of the more difficult things to do with FF and Blender.

If the hands already have rigging on them try removing it, before attaching the mesh to the armature, align the fingers on the armature as close as possible to the mesh fingers in pose mode, attach the mesh to the armature, and then check the vertex groups on the hands in edit mode. It gets complicated.

I found the easiest thing to do is either ;

1) adjust the hands to a semi - clenched fist without rigging, and then just rig the entire hand to hand main hand bone, not even using the finger bones;

2) I had seen some of Gren's meshes with a line in the readme saying "Hands by Johnny Patches". I'm not sure, but I think what he did was rig and entire model without hands and then import a generic pair of rigged hands to join with the model. I think that that's what you're trying to do, but the hands have to be compatible with the new armature/ mesh.
