Title: Mardi Gras Challenge 2020-Folly chasing Death---
Post by: daglob on February 07, 2020, 10:10:09 PM
Yeah, I know I'm probably the only one who cares about this, but:

Tonight is the first parade of the season: The Conde Cavaliers will hit the streets at 7:30 pm, and merriment will be had my all... or at least by most.

The challenge is to create some kind of Mardi Gras themed content, either a skin, mesh, scope, mini-mod, 2-d art (I have this idea involving Death's Jester...), or something. The rules are simple:

Deadline is February 25th (short season: I think the mayor hates Mardi Gras), but if you need a little more time...

Post a pic here so we can enjoy it and give you props.

Have fun.

This is a new character, one of The Lord of Misrule's Miscreants. He is on a scoped mesh that, if you notice, now has thumbs that map to different locations. I put Vigilante's Human Ton skin on it as well.

I can't take full credit, the chest emblem was some stock picture I found on Google, and the Lantern is kittbashed from that.

Yeah, I know, he's Aztec. I couldn't find an appropriate mesh for this last year.

All of these are great and creative. I'm inclined to join but know squat about the holiday and the festivities attached to it.

Haha, yeah, you have to be from a very specific part of the states to really get it.  I grew up on the Gulf Coast just a few hours from New Orleans, and we had parades every year.  Much tamer than the bacchanalian boondoggle in NO, but a lot of fun as a kid.

Just google Mardi Gras in Images and you can get plenty of ideas. Or you can just take a character and change the colors of the costume to green, gold, and purple, and say that's it. Pretty much everybody around here does that, draping the colors over everything and claiming they have a Mardi Gras sale.

Hm. I still don't quite get it. Google says it's about pancakes? So like back when church had restrictions on certain foods it was like a day off? Mostly it always seemed like a pub day to me. Anyways thanks, you reminded me that Valentine's Candy is 75% off at the dollar store on Monday. Time to eat more heart shaped peanut cups than humanly possible. That's my superpower.  :P

It's supposed to be the last blow-out before Lent. Not pancakes, King Cakes. And Funnel Cakes. And more candy than any human needs. Mobile used to be a lot more Catholic than it is these days, but all us heathens decided we liked the holiday so...

Oh, and lots and lots of drinking. That is why I have this idea about a picture of DJ.

No parade tonight; they usually have at least one "make up" day for rained out parades during the season.

The temperature is 54 degrees with 40% humidity, and clear with a 15 mph north wind. The City has officially shut down and is ready to party!

The Crew of Columbus parades tonight. My original intention was to create a Batman '66 style villainess called Columbine the Conqueress and her three thugs, Nino, Pinto, and Saint Marv. Well, maybe next year. Anyway, here just for fun, is Max, who incorporates the Marid Gras colors, anyway.

Ah, great fun: the security settings on my laptop won't let me save out of Photoshop (it is a well known problem with this make), so... well, I'm not sure what I would have done for Slacabamorinico, the mascot of the Joe Cain Parade, anyway.

So do I. I had intended to have the Royal Court posted  before Mardi Gras, but computer and health problems stopped that.

Windows won't let you, just correcting you there. My laptop is decent and I have the same issue with everything. MS has to get their act together. Explorer of all things is buggy these days even.

Edit: Just so that doesn't come off as snark I'm stating this to discourage you, especially granted stimulus payments right now, from buying a new unit hoping it will resolve the issue and ending up let down. It isn't your pc, it's Windows, the updates specifically. I'm having the same issues here on a decent HP.
