Title: The Shannara Chronicles
Post by: Panther_Gunn on January 14, 2016, 09:04:12 PM
On MTV?

Where did this come from, and why have I not heard about it before now, through Facebook, of all places?

Has anyone (preferably familiar with the books) seen this yet and have an opinion?  It's by Gough & Millar, so I'm a bit mixed on my expectations.

It is based on a book series by Terry Brooks, which is probably up to 20 books or more.

The tv show skips the first book, Sword of Shannara, but the events of it are talked about in the show.

I have been hearing about this for some time.

I only saw the first two, since I don't have cable, but am positive so far.

As Ghost said, the first book was skipped, but the events are talked about.  The main change so far is minor--the events of Sword happens much closer to Elfstones, and Shea is now Will's father instead of grandfather.  Also Will is already training to be a healer in the books while he never gets there in the TV show.

Minor stuff at worst.  So far, it's a great, faithful adaptation.

Damnit, I already have too much stuff on my DVR to get caught up on (I finally got to the last season of Fringe)!  I don't need another series I need to watch when I don't even have time to watch what I'm already recording.
