Title: Suggestions for Kid Friendly Animated Movies?
Post by: Cyber Burn on November 25, 2015, 07:02:37 PM
It's been a while since I've picked up any of the DC or Marvel Animated Movies, so I was hoping you guys could help me out. What would you guys recommend as being child friendly in regards to their Animated Movies? Basically, my Son is 5, and while my Nephews are a little bit older, they are on the Autism Spectrum, so I would prefer something that's not filled with Innuendo, Violence, and Profanity. Any suggestions that you guys have would be really appreciated. Thank you.

You can try the Batman unlimited series, or the Batman Lego movies.

I've seen a couple of Batman Lego movies on the Cartoon Network, those would be fantastic if they're on DVD, though I'm not familiar with the Batman Unlimited Series, I'll have to look that one up. Very much appreciated JeyNyce. Thank you.

There's a series of Batman Unlimited Web Shorts on youtube, you can try watching some of them to see they're any good for the young ones.
(https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLthM2iicXkUuQqOyV4VU_vE_dxE5XKulF) I'd actually been meaning to post a link to them in the Batman Unlimited thread as well.

I'd suggest Batman: Brave and the Bold. It's a more light hearted Batman show inspired by the 60's Adam West and the silver age comics. The only thing is, there are some episodes, such as Chill of the Night, and Siege of Starro, that might be a little too dark or violent (The Spectre's segment would also be a good example), so you'd have to decide for yourself on that.

Brave and the Bold for the most part is meant for young boys, though, so with a very few exceptions, it would be perfect.

I had actually went through that thread before creating this one, and while you do talk about DC Movies, Marvel's aren't discussed, also, ratings aren't really discussed either, hence why I started this thread.

I had been looking for Super Hero Squad on DVD for my Son, but haven't been able to find it lately. Brave and the Bold, unfortunately, I can't seem to find as a complete Season (But I haven't gone online yet).

Batman vs Dracula, I actually do have, and while it's not bad, it is a little much for a 5 year old (At least in my opinion), but my Nephews might like it.

Definitely appreciate the input guys, thank you.

I third Brave and the Bold, it's an amazing and underrated show. And it's on Netflix or at least it was. I'm pretty sure the content ous kid-friendly though there's plenty of brawling which may be tough to avoid with superheroes. The Lego hero movies are also really funny and definitely have no adult content.

I agree, Brave and Bold is a great choice for a young viewer, and it is a love letter to Silver Age DC in its vast and varied shapes.  It will even grow on an adult if you give it a chance, I say, speaking from experience. ;)

Unfortunately, it's not on Netflix anymore.

Another good choice is Justice League, though perhaps not JLU.  It's still on Netflix, and there are many episodes that are probably accessible and safe enough, but you'd want to deal with them on a case by case basis.

I would say 10-12 and up, so not for this audience.  They aren't really adult like the source material, but there are some thing not suitable for the younger kids.
